Scientists have already admitted the estimated warming ability of CO2 was grossly over estimated. Let it go. We need higher levels to insure longevity of modern plant life.

No. They haven’t. And you can’t find a credible source for that statement, because the vast majority understand this 101 shite
Posted on 11/20/17 at 6:19 pm to olddawg26
Lol.. The vast majority see the models have been completely inaccurate and they have now admitted why.

Show us a link. And also show why the temperature is continuing to rise every year. And why everything points to co2 levels helping contribute to that. And why the hockey stick hoax was debunked.

Thank you.
I will read this and consider it when I have time.
I do appreciate the effort.

In another few years, after the hoax has been clearly exposed, these true believers will be little different than the "Screaming at The Sky" crowd.
Sad....but funny!

You talking bout this board for 8 years?

quote:Interesting question.
Thats nice.
CO2 makes up what percentage of greenhouse gasses?
There are two ways to answer: (1) Concentration, and (2) Contribution
Both depend on whether water vapor (far and away the most significant GreenHouse Agent) is even considered. The amount of water vapor in Earth's atmosphere varies substantially by region, season, and weather conditions. So it is often erroneously not included in "calculations" at all.
In terms of GHGs, typically our troposphere contains:
1 to 4% water vapor or 10,000-40,000ppm.
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) 400ppm
Methane (CH4) 1.7ppm
Nitrous Oxide (N2O) 0.3ppm
CFC's (and other misc. gases) 0.028ppm
GHG Contribution - Adjusted for Heat Retention Characteristics:
Water vapor = 95.000%
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) = 3.618%
Nitrous oxide (N2O) = 0.950%
Methane (CH4) = 0.360%
CFC's (and other misc. gases) = 0.072%
Of the 3.618% CO2 contribution = 28% is deemed anthropogenic. IOW 28% of 3.618 or 1.01% of total "greenhouse effect" is thought d/t human activity)
However, even that number can be misleading d/t to failure in considering other buffering effects such as cloud formation.

Good post.
Now the next question ( don't know if it's worth asking, as the "true believers" seem to have run away)...is "What percent of greenhouse gases make up the atmosphere?"
* for context, we're already at "man-made" CO2 being a small part of 3.6%*

quote:Actually "3.6%" is CO2 GH contribution, not CO2 concentration.
* for context, we're already at "man-made" CO2 being a small part of 3.6%*
So the "man-made" portion in terms of concentration is 0.0112%, not 3.6%.
Nitrogen (N2) 78%
Oxygen (O2) 21%
Argon (Ar) almost 1%
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) 0.04%
Everything else combined (neon, helium, methane, krypton, hydrogen,...) > 0.0028%
