“I push back against it,” Van Pelt told Traina. “I get it every day. Largely, people are kind, and largely you get compliments. But you do get the sinking-ship narrative. I would try to educate people, but it’s pointless to educate people who don’t care to be educated. I guess people believe that we’re hemorrhaging money when that’s not the case. There are other challenges for us, absolutely. Is the business challenged? Absolutely. Look at our peers. There’s no one in this space that is just hiring on gobs more people and aren’t trying to figure out what to do. What’s the old cliche? The wind blows hardest at the top of the mountain? That’s where we are. That’s what you’re going to get.”

quote:

“If you truly want to boycott the NFL and you want to boycott ESPN, the notion that some guy sitting out there, or gal, and they decide, ‘You know what, I’m going to cut my entire cable package because ESPN gave an award on a made-up show in July because there’s no sports, to a woman who used to be a man, so I’m now not going to have any cable TV at all, and I’m going to sit around at night and read books by candlelight like olden times because of that,’ that’s not happening. And if you did that, then you’re so dumb that I can’t even pray for you because you’re beyond hope,” he stated.

That last part will come across poorly to most people, but I do agree that people aren't cutting the cord because they disagree with ESPN's politics.

Surprise surprise. Get signed to a new contract and defend them. Guarantee his reaction would different if he were part of the cuts.

I’m not cutting the cord bc

however...it does make my decision easier. When I originally got my cable subscription, we got the package we did based upon which one had ESPN. The majority of the time, ESPN programs are covering social issues they have no business covering.

Who the heck doesn't use electricity to read a book? SVP just went overboard to prove his sensitive points.

I wouldn't even recognize this dude on the street.

Who cares what he thinks? He just reads a freaking cue card. Just think if your job literally told you everything you needed to know and you just needed to read it off a card. Or if you just have to watch a game and tell people what is going on, who do you think is expendable dumbass?

I would not cut the cord for a couple of reasons:

A) I truly have not had the time to look at what all would go into actually cutting the cord.

B) Cable is easy for me (again, I'm aware that the alternative might be easier, but I just don't know), everything I like to watch is right there when I need it, and I don't have to jump through hoops to get to it.

C) I love the theater of sports too much to allow the political/social rants of those at the places that bring me that theater to ruin it for me. I'm a big boy...I have formed, and continue to form my thoughts and beliefs based on more things than a few bleeding hearts on ESPN.

I like what ESPN used to be but I don’t like what it has become.

I’m not going to get rid of ESPN because I like sports and they show live sports.

But I don’t watch any of the shows in between anymore.

SVP is a nerd

No one gave a shite about Jenner(he makes a claim in article, that people did), but ESPN has aligned itself with the progressive movement, and it has been a bad move for the network, and with cord cutters continuing, ESPN is laying off people in droves.

"I don't agree with your choices thus I am more educated than you"

Exactly the attitude that is killing Democrats

“Everything’s fine folks.., everything is fine. We have the situation well under control.”

Said the captain of the Titanic. Thought to be unsinkable at the time.

You don't ask the people on the Titanic "What's happening to the ship?", they're too busy jumping, drowning, or re-arranging the deck chairs.

So...what exactly is dumb about avoiding a product that you dislike? And why is reading books by candlelight the only alternative to watching espn and nfl?

SVP sounds like someone who has gotten tired of being asked these kind of questions.
