Just laugh and say no, like I like to do.

I do because I've usually stolen more shite than the donation anyway.

I always say yes every time the Publix girl asks, because I'm neither cheap, poor, nor an a-hole.

Yeah, no. My wife goes to store for three things. Comes back 1.5 hours later, spends >$200, and doesnt have one of the things she wemt for to begin with.

Between the donation jars at the register, the local team/troop/Salvation Army selling shite at the door, the vagabonds playing guitar on the sidewalk, and the homeless Vets holding signs at the parking lot exits I am damn near broke by the time I get on the road.
I have to get cash back now just to pay all the people with their hands out.
ETA: I forgot about the ladies walking around the parking lot selling tamales.

More and more grocers and retailers are going along with the charity feature.. I guess it’ll be commonplace soon.

This is me:
Cashier: Would you like to make a donation?
Me: Sure, I can give $1.
I do it because $1 doesn’t mean as much to me as it does to others.

at least 3 times a week. More some days. I'll always round up change, but have to turn down other stuff a lot.

Every time I get a paycheck I have to make a sizeable, unwilling, forced donation so I’ll take the opportunity to refuse every f’cking time I can.

I always say “no thanks I’m against charity” or “I spent all my money on beer”

So many fricking retards on this website.
ETA: You wanted attention and you got it. So chalk it up as a win in your book, I guess.

Feels kind of scammy, and I feel kind of like I can't trust where the money is going.
Cashier: Do you want to donate a $1 to XYZ charity?
Me: Maybe. Tell me about their organizational structure and how they spend donations.
Cashier: Ummmm...
Me: Well how much of each dollar is spent on administrative costs and fund raising versus actually benefitting the cause?
Cashier: Uhhhh....
Me: I work hard for my money and generally like to know where it is going.
Cashier: Never mind. Paper or plastic?
