Technically, maybe not. Logically, no question!

Saban took over a dumpster fire. O took over a team with 4 years of top 3-4 recruiting classes.

Post less. How dumb do you have to be to try to argue that O is better than Saban?! Jesus Christ!

Answer this, dumbass - what is Orgeron's head to head record against Saban?

I'm not upset. I'm trying to point out that the O and Saban comparisons aren't applese to apples by any stretch of the imagination.

yes he really found his recruiting groove at Bama. It's unreal the kind of talent he is able to land at Bama. Hats off to him for that. It's the most important part of being a good college coach and Saben is the best at it. But if O can get some momentum at LSU, recruiting will pick up, the sky is the limit.

Comparing Saban to Orgeron is like comparing caviar to an expired turd

With a ridiculous advantage in talent, Saban has been nearly unbeatable

I am sorry but this is bullshite

Bama recruit very well but teams with top 5 to 10 classes can still be competitive and beat them. Its not just a talent issue but its coaching

Bama isn't impossible to beat, it may be extremely difficult but its not impossible

By the way, if you think I'm saying Oregeron is better than Saban based on his 7-3 start this year I'm a little worried about you

READ THE TITLE OF YOUR OWN THREAD.

True you didn’t say 7-3 makes him better than Saban, but you did say if he finishes 10-3 in this one single season that he is better than Nick.

And only a complete idiot would think that.

Orgeron is anywhere near the coach that Saban is.

that doesn't really matter. It just matters how good a coach he will be AT LSU. JUry is still out on that. So far it's looking pretty good and is starting to look more and more like we made the right choice with a hire that was deemed questionable by many at the time.

Saban = #1 recruiting classes = more talented = playoffs

If 0 pulls that shite every year he'll be alright in my book, but I don't see that happening.

Bama doesn't just recruit
quote:

very well
, they recruit in a different stratosphere. #1 recruiting class for the last 6 years in a row. Unreal the talent they are able to assemble. But you are correct that it is possible with great coaching to beat them. I think that that seems to be the area we could have an advantage with the coaching trio of Aranda, Canada, and Coach O. Next year we will a have legitimate shot on our home field and seem to be coaching up our players very well especially in the trenches.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to pull that off but we could be closing the gap with superior coaching. It's a tall task to ask our staff but has been done before.

You don't follow recruiting or know how it works, do you? I'm doubting you could even understand it to begin with.

When Saban got here, he had a team equivalent to maybe South Carolina today, or Kentucky (just spit balling). It takes several years to turn a program around to where your ENTIRE starting team's average talent level increases. In those several years, Nick Saban was able to win a NC. Do you realize how rare and difficult that is to do with the level of talent he was dealt with when he got here? No, you obviously don't.

Miles was able to sustain that rich talent level throughout his tenure - also incredibly hard to do.

Ed Orgeron has been given a gold mine... And loses to Troy with it.

The people on here who are worried about O being the coach, aren't worried about his coaching abilities, necessarily, it's his unknown ability to sustain the level of talent required for us to compete for NCs.

Currently, we have the #17 recruiting class. We haven't been that low probably since Saban was here. We'll be lucky if we land in the top 15. Which is well below our last 10 year average.

So anyone want to weigh in on why LSU was 9-3 in Sabans 5th year at LSU and then had 2 losing seasons at Miami and then went 7-6 with a loss to ULM?

I don’t know...but I think if Saban had never left LSU we would have an extra 2 NCs at least. I know he wouldn’t have been as stubborn as Miles with a complete inability to adjust to the modern game. Miles will never do anything significant as a coach the rest of his life.
