Ring, Ring Pro or wait for the Nest Doorbell?

Ring is $99 at Best Buy this weekend.
Ring Pro is normal price at $249
Nest doorbell ? price
Which would the collective get? Only advantage I see so far for the Nest Doorbell is I have other Nest products so it would be one less app. Disadvantage is price (cloud storage twice as expensive) and waiting until sometime next year for release.
I haven't found a reason to go all the way to Ring Elite.

I'm so tied into the nest ecosystem I'm waiting on the nest doorbell just to see how it compares to ring and others on the market.

I’m glad I went Ring, I much prefer their devices. The protect needs to come out so I can ditch my security system bill.

I've used them all and Ring is the better product.
Pretty sure the $99 one everyone is doing for BF is the original one.

Get the Pro over the original. Maybe Ring 2,but not the $99 one

The Ring V2 is a nice package. You get the flexibility of running it off of battery power or hardwiring it like the original (PRO has to be hardwired) and it steps up to a 1080p camera over the original 720p. Of course if your wifi sucks 720p would be better The V2 also comes with wedge kits for horizontal and vertical mounting adjustments and two color change kits. Silver or bronze.
The Elite is bad arse but unless you have a single gang opening with a cat5 it's really not an option.

I have the Ring Pro doorbell and it's been fantastic.

I have the ring pro and like it. I don't have experience with the other ones to compare. I do have the flood light cam as well and it's pretty nice. Hate that the bulbs aren't replaceable though.

Yeah that was a head scratcher for me to. Seems like it would of be an easy addition.
I could probably jerry rig something if they burnt out though.

I installed a Ring Pro last Sunday. I come home last night to an open package. I go and review the recordings and watch a neighborhood kid who has caused trouble in the past take a package, bring it back, take another package and never return. I get the cops involved and by tonight the kid admitted to it and the stolen item was recovered. Unfortunately it was destroyed, but his crime will not go unpunished. Had I not installed the Ring, I would have assumed he was responsible but would have never been able to prove anything. It’s not perfect, however, it does what it is supposed to do. I would highly recommend it.

Nice catch, love it when a thief gets his just desserts.

I really am upset this is a google owned company with how closed off all the nest crap is. Nest is ran like an Apple company.

Does any doorbell let you record footage on your own without having to pay for the cloud service yet?
Until then, every single doorbell manufacturer is failing.

So it records even when the doorbell isn't pressed? Motion activated?

Yes.
If you have cars on a street in front of you the Ring pro has better controls on to get less false positives of cars driving by. You get better control of where the motion is sensed.
I bought a camera on Amazon a couple of years ago that has 16gb of storage built in and is motion activated and you access the built in storage via WiFi. I use it at the Lake House. It constantly overwrites old footage. Works quite well for a single point solution if you don't want to mess with cloud storage or a large DVR box.
Similar to this one.

It will record on motion. With the Pro, you can control the areas where motion will activate it and also how sensitive it is. You can set your phone to get an alert on any motion or only when the door bell is pressed. I choose not to get the motion alerts because they are too frequent. You will have to pay $30 a year for the cloud storage if you want to save the motion recordings automatically. They give you a 30 day trial. If you don’t get the cloud storage, you would be able to look at a live view and get alerts, however, it will not save the recordings.

If they win their lawsuit against ADT, it won't be. Ring Protect security system for $10 a month or $100 a year includes storage on all your Ring camera devices and the security system itself. ADT monitoring is 3x to 4x as much without cameras.
Cloud storage isn't free and they don't have advertising to fall back on like Google. Would be nice if they did offer local storage though.
