Simmons is the man, I've maintained he's this generation's Magic Johnson since he came to LSU and he hasn't disappointed: 6'9-6'10 guy who can run the floor, distribute, be efficient, drive to the hole and I hear he's improving as a defender which is encouraging. Lonzo needed more years in college, he's going to have a much tougher time improving his handle in the NBA.

This is the problem with leaving college before you're ready. It lowers your ceiling as a player

You do bring up a good point as Russell has shown steady improvement, inceasing his PER by 5.2 and his Box Plus Minus by 2.8 from his first year, and that's likely an even greater improvement compared to the first 11 games.

That being said, game score is largely dependent on minutes because it doesn't control for rates like most stats. And in this case Lonzo averages (33.5) 8.7 or 35% more minutes per game than Russell's first 11 games (24.8). So translating it to per 36, Russell would have had a game score of 9.6 while Lonzo would have a game score of 8.0.

But the general point remains that Russell struggled too but has improved so Lonzo obviously shouldn't be dismissed so easily; however, he'll need a huge improvement though.
