But Yadi is better at just about every offensive category.
Yadi is worth a 98 OPS+ on average
Sundberg was worth a 90 OPS+ on average
Now take into account that Sundberg has the advantage defensively they would be about even imo

At least Hanley left LA before he got fat so it didn’t happen twice

Thankfully that was the exact opposite

Best of defender I've ever seen and he hit 450 home runs? I'm not saying he is a hall of fame but he deserves to stay on the ballot.

He had a pretty decent 6 year strecth.

Lance berkmans numbers should not be ignored. He's very similar to Jim Rice. He did have a swift Decline due to Injuries or he could. Have hung around and amassed counting numbers as a DH.

One of, if not the, best defensive CF's I've ever seen. Some of his catches wete unreal, and he could cover some ground. He just doesn't have the offensive numbers to be a HOFer.

That he is, and Berkman was a dang good player. I know Rice is a HOFer, and I liked Jim Rice, but I don't believe either are HOFers.

I will agree with you that Pittsburgh should have spent some money a few years ago to supplement their core when their contention window was open. And I totally understand why Pirates fans are pissed about that, and I do think their return on Cole was very light.
Amen.

But your cross sport comparisons are completely absurd as most are and show you don’t really understand the fundamental differences between the two sports.
if there is an nfl team that refuses to place an adequate team on the field in exchange for pocketing revenue, it's nowhere near the level of the Pirates.

Also find me a pro baseball team that is currently good that has built their team primarily through free agency, regardless of market size.
I never said the Pirates had to do it primarily through free agency. Two years ago we just needed to a handful of guys to warrant a playoff run. They had a solid roster in 2015, let a ton of talent leave, and never replaced them anyone anywhere near as credible.

They let Pedro Alvarez go for John Jaso
They let Neil Walker go for Josh Harrison
those were the only two position players they replaced from the 2015 team
AJ Burnett retired
JA Happ signed with Toronto
Charlie Morton signed with Houston
they replaced them with John Niese, James Tallison and Ryan Vogelsong

As for RHP Dominic Leone, he had a breakthrough year in the Blue Jays bullpen last year: 65 games, 2.56 ERA, 11 holds, 1.052 WHIP, 81 Ks, 70.1 IP. He strengthens #STLCards relief depth.

Grichuk could hit 30 homers this year if he gets the at bats for Toronto.

FRIDAY: Boston has actually offered something more in the vicinity of $125MM over five years, per Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald (via Twitter). Obviously, that’s a far sight more than what had been reported a few days back — and generally within the range of what might reasonably have been anticipated for Martinez entering the winter.

And hit .240 with 200 strikeouts. He’s easily replaceable.
