Also, why do people think that the new shite on the iPhone X hasn't been on the last 2 Samsung Galaxy phones?

Anyone who would spend $1K on a phone is an idiot IMO, but Im already of the opinion that most people are idiots, so in most cases whether you do or do not own a $1K phone isn't going to change my opinion of you one way or the other..

The same people who are gonna laugh at this price tag and logic, probably have rationalized a 600-800 a month truck note on a 60-80k Ford Raptor that they don't need.

shite. I've just been going with "blowjob and monkey sex". It pains me that I've been doing it wrong all these years.

Now, if you're happy hanging on to your current phone for 4 or 5 years
Problem with that is, Apple makes your iPhone obsolete through updates long before that amount of time has passed.

um, its more just calling out bulshit when people see it.
when an iSheep boasts about the new wireless charging feature, we can point out that android has had it for over five years
when an iSheep boasts about the new facial recognition feature, we can point out that android has had it for over three years.
etc

Ever since the phone plans stopped subsidizing upgrades i stopped upgrading unless absolutely necessary

do people keep the same phone for 30 months?

Look how far it's come.

That's absolutely insane. Idiots throwing their money away.

Plus, is the daily coffee stop that common? Sure, the Starbucks/CC's line is long in the mornings (I stop almost every day during the warmer months for a cold brew), but that's only a % of total population. The assumption that everyone stops for $3-$5 coffee every morning was always weird to me.

I don't know if the iPhone X needs to be the goal, but he's offering pretty basic financial advice.
$20/week in Starbucks coffee is $1040/year. $5/week in gas station coffee is $260/year. You'll save ~$800/year.
That's almost $25,000 in savings over the course of a career just switching to a cheaper coffee source.
Find two or three things to do that with, and now you can really start thinking about building a nice nest egg for retirement.

They lowered their plans by ~$20 (some even more than that) to make the monthly device payment basically a wash. When this switch happened, my mother was one of those "I'LL NEVER PAY THAT MUCH FOR A PHONE" people. She tried every avenue she could think of with both ATT and Verizon.. and she ultimately gave up the "grandfathered" thing because the plan she was grandfathered in to was $30 more per month than the plan she could get if she got a new device and signed up for monthly installments.
I still hear people gawk at phone prices and go on about their old grandfathered crap, but it really isn't much different now that the service plans are cheaper.

Phone plans are the past. I'e went completely off plan. I pay #40 a month pre paid ATT for each phone I have (and I have 7) and we just go to the store and buy an unlocked phone when we need a new one ( I LOVE BLU phones, great Android phones)

So, like I said, you guys are like atheists. Everytime someone boasts about God, atheists feel the need to piss down their leg.
Who cares? If people want to believe in god, fine. If people want to buy dumb arse expensive fricking iPhones, fine.

Yeah he's right.
This whole financing phones is bullshite though. Instead of the 2 year contract in exchange for a reduction in price of the phone, you get a 2 year contract where you pay off the full price of the phone.

That's not his point.
People are acting like apple created these new features when in reality, they are late to the game.

Yeah I think you only come out ahead if you just never upgrade your phone.
