Any FDBers cold brew coffee at home? It’s taken me 35yrs but I finally acquired a taste for coffee, but I like the cold brew better.

Any tips to do this at home?

We have this system and we love it.

I use it around once a week-- it's super easy and the coffee tastes great. Plus, it comes with lots of extra filters and plugs. Highly recommend.

buy a cheese cloth with a drawsting.

buy a gallon or two glass jar.

grind your beans coarsely.

fill bag with beans.

put in jar and fill with cold water.

let sit for 24 hours.

remove cheesecloth and beans.

done

My husband makes it in our French press. Coarse ground coffee is key.

I don’t make it in the French press since it’s such a small size, but I do use the press to filter it.

Find a decent tea diffuser online and use it in a large stadium cop for 24 hours. Repeat.

I've been using Kirkland brand coffee steeped in mason jars and poured into regular funnel with a coffee filter inside. The grind is fine, so the coffee takes a little longer to filter. I can usually filter two quart mason jars in thirty minutes while playing with my daughter or giving her nightly bath.

Buy a Toddy cold brew system, they're pretty inexpensive.

I use the Toddy as linked above. Course grinds. I use about a 4:1 ratio. Water to grinds. But that is adjustable. You have to find the ratio that works for you.

I have this Hario, and I also have a Toddy. The Hario is a little easier to use, but the Toddy makes better coffee, and more concentrate. Toddy also requires filters you have to buy, but they last a few months.

Cheapest way: gallon pickle jar, pound of coarse ground coffee, fill w/water. Steep in fridge for 24 hrs. (Not just overnight, but a full 24 hrs). Strain and use.

Easiest way: buy bottle of Cool Brew. I’m partial to the original coffee & chicory flavor.

Bumping to ask a question: I’m a fan of cold brews from several places in New Orleans and Baton Rouge... Mojo, Sacred Grinds, Highland Coffee and even CC’s....
But I moved to Colorado, and have found a lack of decent cold brew and have been trying to brew myself.
Is it common for the places above to use chicory? Are there any additional ingredients that should be used? I have not been able to get the recipe right when home brewing. I specifically tried to mimic CC’s as it seemed like it would be easiest. But their home brew kit does not taste like the restuarant version.
