It's weird, I care more about my family than some nebulous concept of inequality. Intellectually, I grasp the notion that if I took each of my children into the woods and sacrificed them on the altar of equality, that it would make a difference, though only a fraction of a decimal point. The idea just isn't that appealing, somehow.

i think people conflate race w/ class, since more lower class people tend to be black. it is a fact that your success is greatly pre-determined by the success of your parents and grandparents.

I wish more people on the right would acknowledge the fact that is takes generations to dig out of a giant hole, and have some understanding and empathy instead of all the bootstrap bullshite.

I also wish more people on the left would stop treating black folks like children, and realize that unlimited welfare and gov't asst only hurts people, and if people had to pay for our own kids they would have more support and love because we planned and had the means to take care of them.

that lifestyle is also greatly predetermined by their surroundings. as a black guy growing up in a nice neighborhood, i used to think along the same lines. but after speaking with a few people who did grow up in the hood, I have shifted my views a bit. Imagine growing up in a world where you see all this going on around you, you don't have a dad to show you how to be a man so you hang around the pushers cause you don't know any different. By the time you reach the age to understand that all this is wrong, you already have a criminal record.
