Seems like every year for Halloween I decide to go a little overboard with pumpkin carving. Of course, I always have to do something fishing related. So here they are.

So this is 2 pumpkins. The boat will be sitting above the underwater pumpkin. I'm going to run some braid from the rod tip down to the worm that the bass is chasing (which has an unfortunate bad spot in the pumpkin right above it.). Whenever I set it all up for Halloween I'll try to get a good picture of the entire thing. Although I may have to do a video. Seeing as how the underwater scene wraps around the entire pumpkin, I had to take multiple pictures.

Here's some of the other pumpkins I did over the weekend.

For my son

For my daughter

For my wife

And just because I'm a Firefly fanboy

ETA: added the string to complete the ridiculousness

Man, you killed it! Those are all great. I showed my gf, and now we have to go buy some pumpkins to carve. Mine will be much more traditional (easy)

Wow. Incredible work.

How much time did you spend on these?

The underwater scene took me about 5 hours. The Serenity pumpkin about 3 hours. The rest about an hour each.

What do you use for your light source? My son wanted a Lamborghini Sesto Elomento on his pumpkin and I made that happen with my dremel. I stuck a couple of LED tea lights in there and it isn't very bright unless there is no light out. Do I need to thin the pumpkin walls more? Brighter light source?

Found these little 20 lumen LED headlamps in the camping section at Walmart for $1 a piece.

ETA: A little advice for getting the light to come through the shaved areas better, scrape out a good bit of the flesh behind it from inside the pumpkin.
