Need advice on a long range rifle

I'm coming to the OB looking for advice. What gun would you want to have for longer range deer rifle but could be used for all around different hunts? I typically hunt with a .270 for around here (south Louisiana) but I travel to the Midwest every year on a deer hunt. My normal range for shooting there is 200-300+ yards. I'm wanting a rifle that I can rely on for that but also use if I ever get to go on an elk hunt, or any other kind of bigger animal. I.e. Moose, bear, etc. What would y'all suggest?

7mag or 300 win mag most likely.
Tikka, of course.

257? Interesting. Never considered that. I was actually leaning toward a 308.

7 mag
300 win mag
300 wsm
338 win mag
Dont forget about the ole 30-06 if you reload.

I would think the .270 has taken plenty of elk and bears and would be just fine.

You already have the caliber you are looking for, but if you want another rifle (I'm sure the answer is yes) 300 win mag is my choice. Although I just bought a 26 nosler but not sure I'd take it on an elk hunt just yet.

You're right I do want another rifle. I love my 270 but I noticed it doesn't have the knockdown power that I'm looking for on longer shots.

Well, then I revise my earlier suggestion on a 257 wby mag, it has energy to kill at 300yds with shot placement, it I don't know about "knock down power". Ive seen what it did to an 8pt at 50yds tho, almost point blank range for that gun! Haha!

After owning one and having killed with it, I honestly would be willing to trade all my guns in for my 6.5 creedmore. Obliterated a 300+ lb aoudad last week at 380 yards. I honestly thought the 6.5 deal was just a fad, and it's not.

Then you need to go to 300WM.

If you are really considering a bear or moose hunt then I would highly lean toward the 338 WM or 300 WM. More so those 2 canons for the bear. That 270 is plenty capable for white-tail and generally elk as well at those ranges you mentioned.

My rifle/hunt thread
I bought a long range gun for an elk hunt I went on. 7 rem mag. Dropped the elk dead at 430 yds.

I've gotten used to my 40 year old Browning BAR in 7 Mag.....it's more accurate than my old eyes are....

.30-06 with the right bullets works on moose at 300 yards.
.338 win mag for real long range horsepower

If you want to take whitetail and also use that same rifle for elk or moose, I would say .300 Win magnum is the starting point.
For black bear, you're probably okay with .300 Win.
For brown bear (or any large, particularly dangerous animal, and I'm not dismissing moose or black bear, but brown bear is different), I would want something in .375 or bigger.

You're asking a lot of a single gun to handle deer hunting (at ranges to 300+ yards), as well as moose, bear and etc. Stay w/ the 270 Win you're already familiar w/ for your routine deer hunting. You're not really going to gain any significant advantages over the 270 Win by going to a 7 Mag, 300 WM, etc for your type of deer hunting. For moose and bear, get a 338 Win Mag.

This is my opinion which OP and others may disagree with, you’re asking one gun to do two different things.
There are guns that can do both but none will do both well.
For LA hunting you would be fine with any number of calibers.
For elk, moose, bear those LA rounds will kill any of these but if the shot placement isn’t perfect you run the risk of getting yourself killed.
You need a bigger round with plenty of energy for shock.
That same round in LA will destroy too much meat on a deer
