Figured I would make a thread in case anyone wanted to follow along. Started a box stand project with my little brother.

Plan on insulating it and adding maybe a small couch and a poker table. Want to get it around 10-12' high on a small hill in order to overlook several feeders. Will add photos as we get major parts completed

That's about the size of my camp shack. You gonna sleep in there?

Oh wait, it's a deer stand.

We rip the studs in half and put them on 20" centers. You're going to have a heavy arsed blind...

I'll only move it once. Weight isn't much of a factor for this build

Apparently in Louisiana precise cut lumber is pink. To differentiate it from studs.

Studs are pink to differentiate between 8’ 2x4’s.

Looks like a to-be cat house more then a deer stand.

I have built two similar to yours. I sleep in mine. Solar panel and propane also.

What I learned:
If you don't have ac power out there build it at home in pieces and assemble on site.
If you don't have heavy equipment to lift wall then build each wall in two pieces.
Everything takes longer than it should.

The top and bottom plate end up making the studs 7'-9" instead of 8'-0".

ETA:

Pretty sure the pink is retardant. I forget how the last walls studs I got were marked but I'm thinking it was a little green on the ends.

And I thought I had a big stand. This 1 is 4x8 with an 8' roof. It was easy enough to build in place. It's on 6 4x4's cemented in the ground. We set the posts 1 weekend and came back the following week with a generator and materials to finish. It's not insulated, but I have a full-size propane tank with heater that attaches to the top that keeps it plenty warm.

Everything is treated and painted. I plan on this stand being around for a long, long time.
