I have yet to hear an adequate explanation of why "America First" is bad

From what I can tell, the belief that it is "bad" is held by people that see borders as nothing more than lines on a map.

Well I see borders has nothing but lines on a map. I think you're being kind. The people that view that belief is bad do so because they don't like America
Regarding the borders. The left love borders when they are talking about certain subjects. For example. Every time you see some liberal talking about how they aren't in the 1% the reality is that 99% of the time that liberal is in fact in the 1%. Or at least damn close. They only stop being in the 1% if they restrict it to within our borders

I don't get it either. If someone can cite me an example where their concern for their neighbor is actually a higher priority for them as opposed to the care of their own family, I bet I can show you a liar.

It’s become really fashionable in the last couple of decades to hate America. To nitpick and be triggered by the silliest things, like using a Fahrenheit temperature scale that is practical in everyday life instead of Celsius or daring to call American football “football” instead of handegg. Rebelling against the religion of mommy and daddy for being nonsense while believing in 50 different genders, being “creeped out” for having some regard for the flag and what it means instead of being an autismo wizard that can’t understand symbolism. Signaling this pure goonery makes you seem smart and cultured to other emotionally stunted manchildren.

Depends on your definition.
To a progressive, it's bad because they exalt egalitarianism and equality above all else. Those ideas permeate through their entire culture. Therefore placing anyone or any group of people above any other is bad. unless that group is the lowest on the chain, then it's ok to lift them above those higher on the chain.
Neo Cons believe it's bad because to them America first means "stop fighting endless wars for other countries." since neocons believe that life works like a board game, they convince themselves there is an evil dragon around every continent. An evil dragon that is somehow threatening the jews, which is also somehow threatening Americans, whose sole job it is to protect jewish people.
Free traders and capitalists hate the term because it seems to be tied at least somewhat to the concept of protectionism and regulations that will raise prices for the arbitrary purpose of building some trinket in America instead of a cheaper location abroad. Protectionism destroys wealth creation.
So there you have it.

There is no explanation, they want us in the new world order. They don't believe in American exceptionalism. We seem to ignore what is in our own backyard way to often.

We are all Americans...North and South Americans...African-Americans, Chinese-Americans.
It's racist and xenophobic to protect your citizens when we live in a global community where all cultures are equal.
America First implies that America is better than everyone else and we should ignore the plight of failed nations.
We need to be not only the investor's of underprivileged nations but the cops of the world.

The short answer is that America, as the shining city on a hill, shouldn’t just be a place for people to reach. It should be an aspiration. And where people aspire to our way of life, we ought to be there to help them reach it.
