Alexander-Murray "Bipartisan" ACA fix already dead

Yet another last-ditch effort to tackle the nation's health care system stalled within hours of its release by a bipartisan pair of senators Tuesday, with President Donald Trump sending mixed signals and Republicans either declining to endorse the proposal or outright opposing it.

Also, Lamar Alexander contradicts himself. Claims this "deal" allows states to relax some coverage mandates/regulations and allow catastrophic plans to be purchased, but then says later that the deal does not allow states to alter essential benefits mandate.

Alexander emphasized that the legislation would not allow states to change the essential benefits insurers are now required to offer individuals and small businesses under the ACA

The bill removed the age limit on catastrophic plans, it is currently 30. Allowed some more state flexibility under the ACA 1332 waiver program, streamlined approvals, and longer waiver length.

Agree. We don’t need anything that is bipartisan at this point. Just dictate what we are going to do.
In other words, just treat dems like they treated republicans when they forced the ACA through initially.

I don't see how anyone who actually pays for health insurance could be in favor of this failing. Premiums are going to go up yuge league. This is going to decimate my family's budget if they don't figure this shite out. TRUMP is an awesome and hilarious guy but if he fricks up working peoples budget he's going to be gone and we'll be back to the Tranny BLM party running the show. This is the reality.

He is not fricking up anything. The "seasoned Washington veterans" are.

Hope this shite sandwich stays dead. I was really worried yesterday after Trump gave it some positive lip service.

What did you do prior to the ACA handout bill?

For years when inaction allowed the continuation of the abomination of Obamacare, I was
Now that inaction continues the destruction of Obamacare, I am
I feel like a dimocrat cheering on the wussy GOPe!

I actually found that kind of strange. Especially the part where he claimed the "fix" saved us from an especially dangerous couple years.

It hasn't already decimated your family's budget? Consider yourself lucky.

The ACA CAUSED premiums to rise because of its insane mandates. Do you people actually have health insurance? Does anyone here actually understand what's going on?

Are you enrolled in an ACA plan from the marketplace or an employer plan that was affected by ACA mandates?
Which mandates are you saying caused the rise?

Can we go back to that point in one fell swoop? The ACA has caused these massive insurance premium spikes. Are we not too far down the ACA road to simply say "screw it, let it fail" without doing something that sets things back to the way they were basically overnight? If not, insurance companies are going to simply raise premiums much more than they were because without changing the coverage side of the equation IMMEDIATELY, you can't simply cut off funding IMMEDIATELY. Am I missing something?
It's not about who owns it or doesn't own it. It's about "how much will I have to pay for my insurance for 2018, and why."

An employer plan dip shite. I'd love to know what your health insurance situation is because you seem to have no idea what's going on.

My health insurance situation is rosy. My parent company is one of the largest insurers in the US. We have really good coverage that isn't affected by ACA other than the tax I have to pay to contribute to the handouts.
I've been in this industry for 20 years.
How many employees do you have at your place of employment? What mandates do you think are causing the rise in premiums?

Granted larger employers aren't doing quite as bad (costs are still rising at a rate that outpaces inflation), small employers are getting just as hammered as individuals.

That's because the actual cause of higher premiums has never been addressed.
Claims go up = premiums go up
Why the claims go up is what we need to focus on.
