Depends on the size and layout of the room you'll be putting it in.
I have a 70", but my living room is really big.
You want one big enough that the distance and angles you'll be watching from will not be an issue, but not so big that it dominates the space.

It depends on how big your room is where you have your TV.
I have a media room which is 16' X 20' set up with theater style seating and my 60" HDTV and 5 surround sound speakers work very well. A smaller TV would not be appropriate for the room.
In fact, I'm thinking about getting a 65" or 70" TV.

I have a 55". I don't think I'd go bigger than 55-60ish.

If you have an open concept, like a great room with kitchen, get a 60" curved tv. You can sit anywhere in the room and have a perfect view of the screen.

find the biggest set you can afford, then take a loan for 2 sizes bigger.

Tv's really aren't that expensive anymore. Even super top of the line 70 and above inches aren't over $5k, most arent over $3k. If you need a loan for that, you're poor.

I see no reason not to have at least one 75 inch 4k smart tv in your house. Unless youre poor.

Likewise....
But regarding the actual topic, TV dimensions are generally determined by the setting. If you have a large dedicated entertainment room then get the biggest and best TV you can afford. Our TV is in the corner of an averaged sized living room. A 65" TV would fit but it would cover part of a double window and we would have to move the entertain center furniture out from the corner for it to work. As such we went with a 55" which is plenty large enough for the size of the room. The other option would have been to wall-mount almost any size over the fireplace but then would have had to run wiring through the walls and we didn't want a TV above the fireplace anyway. The corner of the room works well because that corner is right at that corner of the house where the cable box is mounted on the outside of the house.

We have a 55” in the bedroom & it doesn’t seem all that big. Plan to get the biggest one reasonable for the living room when the ancient one out there finally dies.

OT says TVs in the bedroom is trashy

On the list of my trashy characteristics, the bedroom TV doesn’t even make the top 10.
