End of the 1-and-done rule nearing

NBA commissioner Silver is calling for an end to one and done.
“It’s clear a change will come,” Silver said Monday on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” show.
Silver has already reached out to union president Michele Roberts and noted they don’t need to wait until 2024, when the collective bargaining agreement is up. He wants Chris Paul from the union and Michael Jordan for the owners to run point on this.
“We should sit down even this season and talk about what a different frame work would look like,” Silver said.
Sounds like thanks to the scandal positive change is coming. The article mentions the zero or two rule like the MLB has which I think would be perfect.
one-and-done

This seems like the most obvious answer, and it baffles me that it took this long to address it again.

MLB is technically zero or three (depending on birthday) but I know what you're saying.
Would be a great change for college basketball.

The stupidest rule implementation in the history of sports next to whatever the NCAA does

MLB technically doesn't have a zero or three either. Players can go to a JuCo for either a year or two and get right back in the draft. Zero or three just applies to the NCAA schools.
Personally, I think it hurts college basketball to eliminate the rule, but the NBA is adamant about making the G-League (so dumb) relevant

Also true. Although once they stopped the draft and follow deal, less kids are going to Juco apparently.

Simply Put, If a kid isn't interested in getting an education he should not have to go play college bb.
Allowing kids to go play in the G League makes sense.
Leave College Basketball to those athletes who want to actually be in college.

If you went MLB route, would you give the high school player the option of entering the draft, seeing where he gets drafted, and then deciding whether or not to sign the contract?
Or would it be if you decide to go to the draft, then you have to go pro, regardless of if you are drafted or not.
OR would you allow all non-drafted players the ability to then go to college?

I would like that option. If you're drafted, that's where you go, but if they go undrafted they should get the option to go to college or try the G-League as an UDFA

You enter the draft and are drafted. You can either sign or not. If you sign, you enter the NBA. If you don't, you must wait two years to re enter
Same with UDFA up to a certain date

I don't know how anyone can hate on Lavar. Dude is living it up and enjoying life. I think he's hilarious.

LaVar is the man and has swag, his sons are exceptionally talented and I think this season’s ROY debate concerning Simmons and Zo will be very compelling bc those 2 are complete BALLers

We will see if you're right long term. If the G-League doesn't help draft stock as much as 2 years in college, you could see a drastically improved college game.

0 or 3 rule would be best IMO.

Back to the 90's and bust city for draftees.
Teams will go back to reaching for players based on AAU hype or whatnot straight out of high school.
One and done was lame for CBB but at least it gave NBA scouts some real film against real competition.
Now, they're going to have to get off their asses and do some real scouting and personal workouts.

It would certainly make college hoops better. Too much star turnaround from year to year.

The NBA is way different than the MLB. If a kid has the ability to get drafted out of HS then he is a freak and would have been a one and done regardless.
