My only problem with Danielson yesterday was when he said Devin White should have been called for targeting when he hit Stidham on a play. I can't remember if it was a sack or a hurry, but it was total nonsense to say that.

Danielson is the best I've ever seen/heard. His ability to watch a play in real-time, dissect it, and provide the audience with analysis before they even show the replay is uncanny. I still don't understand how he seems to be watching all 22 players at once.

I agree. He is top drawer. But realize that he has spotters in his ear and he talks to the players and coaches the day before and gets "tips"

I hate Danielson's running commentary with a passion. Sure he's knowledgeable about the game but he's boring as heck and simply drones on, and he didn't disguise his Auburn bias.

Danielson is the vehicle with bad brakes running out of control: he just doesn't know when to stop.

Danielson may be the best in the business

no it wasn't "total nonsense." By rule, a defender can't contact the QB in the head. It wasn't violent, but White CLEARLY made facemask-to-facemask contact. Should've been a penalty.

You can't be such a homer that you ignore things that are crystal clear, even if they would work against your team.

say what? Danielson has a lot of personality and is anything but boring

now this is just absurd.

Stop with the blind homerism.

LSU fans suck. Verne was a treasure. I miss his voice, but Nessler was the perfect replacement.

Not many things were better than a big SEC matchup when it's 60 degrees outside and Verne and Gary on the call.

FORCIBLE contact to a defenseless opponent is the rule, not just contact.

White was pulling back when he made incidental contact. It was a good no-call. Officials let them play last Saturday for the most part.

I don't completely disagree. It can't be merely soft incidental contact. But, to me, White clearly made forcible contact.

It wasn't violent and he did try to pull back, but if you reversed the teams, this board would be SCREAMING that Auburn LB should be called for targeting if he hit Etling like that.

Verne wasn’t biased. And i’ve never heard a good reason to support that he was.

Have you ever heard him call an Alabama game?

Rick Neuheisel agrees with you. He showed the same replay and said could have been targeting in the post game.

I still think it was the right no-call, though.

Biggest pussy’s on the internet?

A) Hillary Clinton voters
B) Butthurt LSU fans obsessed with announcers

C) Trumpkins when they hear the truth about their hero

I don't find Danielson to be so bad. I've seen him give credit to LSU when credit wasn't really due, I've also seen him give teams credit at LSU's expense. That's about as much as you can ask from him.

I don't mind Danielson but he spends WAY too much time worrying about the officiating. Missed calls. Called that were made that shouldn't have, etc

I like Danielson, unlike most of us, he knows what he is talking about. He's pretty fair.

I thought both were pretty anti-LSU during the Auburn game if I am being honest.

Wish it was Brando doing the call.

Danielson is one of the best in the business. He calls it like it is. Sometimes the truth hurts and people get their panties in a wad.

I actually didn’t mind Verne because he made it sound fun. He was passionate and seemed to really love calling the games. It’s all supposed to be fun anyway.

Nessler is kind of bland and boring. I’m still getting used to him.

I actually really appreciate that he does this. He calls the refs out on national television, and holds them accountable. Somebody has to do it since the Southeastern Conference surely won’t.

FORCIBLE contact to a defenseless opponent is the rule, not just contact.

quote:

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:

Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet

Note 2 Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14):

A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass.

It very easily could have been called targeting. I wouldn't like the call but I have seen less egregious tackles called for targeting and those calls stand
