So their options are:
1. Stay at lsu while the team and program crumbles to the ground, causing irreparable harm to their reputations for a payday, or
2. Leave while they still can, except a slight pay cut and open themselves up for a bigger payday by going to a program that isn't headed up by idiots
You're out of your mind if you think anyone with a lick of sense is taking option 1.

He has some good podcasts. "The Rise and Fall of LSU Football" was awesome. I think it's from Oct. 3.

Landry has strong ties to LSU and he has confirmation of this info. THIS IS NOT BASED ON OPINION.

So much for that, right?

Admins doing work I guess. How dare I post a summary of the podcast of a well connected LSU coaching alumnus.

I just wonder how he knows so much detail as to what went on and what was said in a meeting involving exactly 4 people: O, Alleva, and the 2 coordinators. Info like this shouldn't be for public consumption...but as always, there seems to a leak somewhere.
Not saying that I mind or that I don't believe it all....I would just like to know how Chris Landry knows.

This is the type of program he wanted in his own image

Do you know what the frick a message board is for? It's for people to express opinions on a topic. This is an LSU message board. I don't think anyone here is foolish enough to think that complaining about a hire right after it happens will change anything. But are we not allowed to discuss something simply because it doesn't conform to your delicate sensibilities? Just let me know, boss
These are not accurate descriptions of the literal melts that occur daily around here regarding the LSU HC and AD. Stop attending games, make TS empty. That is what the $ will hear. That is what will cost JA and EO their jobs.

This just reeks of completely outside (administration) meddling, possibly from BoS, possibly from the AD. I would think it's above the AD, as I understand Alleva was once a college QB, and he'd know from personal experience that real-life doesn't work that way.
Concept, in a vacuum, sounds like it may work. O is purely responsible for acquiring talent, basically a GM.
Canada and Aranda have total control, answer only to administration, not to O. What could go wrong ?
I remember a few years back someone in the Boston Red Sox organization said they could win 120+ games a year, if you changed the pitching format. Have pitchers go all-out for 3 innings, use 3 a game. Pull them on schedule, maybe have 1-2 guys available for relief if one scheduled guy just bombs.
The idea was that good pitchers would be able to cruise through the lineup once, they wouldn't tire out, and conceptually the vast majority of the time, you wouldn't give up more than 2 runs.
The problem with that is reality involves egos, and it won't work with real people. In baseball, the winning pitcher is the guy with the lead after what, 4-5 innings, so a starter that always goes 3 innings never gets a W. Nobody would want that role. Players get perks for stats, nobody wants to come out with a no-hitter or if they're rolling.
Same issue applies to the bizarre coaching setup at LSU. If O is just the recruiter and press guy, he's still going to want some say and command as "head coach". If he does nothing else but recruit, and the coordinators win but have to juggle the lineup (say they end up starting a 3 star over a 5 star), they will say they are the reason the team wins, and the recruiter was wrong in eval, and they should get more money than him. If the recruiter can't/won't bring in the right type of player, they will say he's sabotaging their schemes. If the schemes are being handled by the opponent, the recruiter will say he got the players, the coordinators aren't doing their job, and he will try to butt in outside his defined role.
In other words, total disaster awaits, unless everything goes perfectly at all times.

Thank you, because I don't have the time to listen. Alleva needs to go...now. Gotta get rid of him before we even think about another Football Head Coach.

The two coordinators talked to friends and conveyed they're trapped in a shitshow. Or O told a bunch of people not understanding why it looks bad because he's not smart.

Who stands to gain by this detail of a private meeting being released:
O - Makes him look like his hands are tied and AD sabotaging program
Alleve - Maybe thinks it makes him look like he's in charge and putting the smart people in a position to succeed
Aranda / Canada - absolves them of responsibility this year (cluster frick shite show of a program) and also positions them to bail after the season with very little dirt on them
The fact this got released, to Landry is fascinating. Looking at all the angles, I bet it was one of the coordinators through a proxy. Intrigue.

I still have to listen to the podcast, but man, those cliff notes are so...damning when you can list it out. Thanks so much for the work doing that.
I read through the entire thread, saw a link to the podcast (thanks!), and saw one or two requests for the link to Landry's other podcast "The Rise and Fall of LSU Football", so here it is.

Alleva needs to go. I would not be shocked if he was part of the reason why Jimbo did not come here.

What? It's being released that they are in total control of their units. If anything it does the opposite of what you're saying.

For the last time it wasn't released directly to Landry.
