NAACP to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: Benching players for anthem kneeling violates rights

The NAACP said in a statement Tuesday that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' pledge to bench players who take a knee during the national anthem "are a public commitment by an NFL owner to violate his players’ Constitutional right to free speech."Jones told USA TODAY Sports on Monday that Cowboys and the other NFL teams "needs to" stand for The Star-Spangled Banner in comments that followed his pledge to keep players off the field for "disrespecting the flag.”
“This is not an issue about our flag, this is an issue about police brutality, (racism, and the ability of members of the NFL whose communities are disproportionately impacted by police misconduct to peacefully say enough,” NAACP interim President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in the statement. “This is not simply a black issue due to the number of white people also killed by police, but we know historically that when justice occurs for African Americans, all other members of our society benefit as well."
The NFL does have language in the league's operations manual that specifies that players "must" be on the sideline and "should" stand for the anthem. NFL spokesperson Joe Lockhart told reporters Tuesday that no player has faced discipline for not standing during the anthem. LINK /

Another person ignoring the fact that free speech doesnt extend to the workplace.

It doesn't violate any rights. My employer could can me tomorrow for burning a flag or something along those lines if they wanted to. I'd have no recourse.

Did the NFL become a governmental entity?

Can we just go to war with NK already so the soft arse fricking people in this country would run out of useless shite to bitch about?

The NAACP doesn't know the Constitution by now?

So now it's official! NAACP supports racist BLM and their unpatriotic anti-police agenda!
How refreshingly honest!

Just because the people that the NAACP represent can say what they want doesn't mean it extends to the workplace.
I know for a fact two places I've been employed would have fired me in a heartbeat had I said anything negative about Obama at work. Bashing Bush or Trump would have been OK though.

Did the NAACP say the same thing when the Google guy was fired?

What if players were kneeling to end abortions and out of wedlock births? Would the NAACP still feel the same way?

I think I'll invoke my First Amendment privilege and harass some blacks at work.

Another futile attempt by the naacp to remain relevant.

1st amendment protects you from the government, not your employer.

Well damn, John Rocker should own the Braves by now for getting his "rights" trampled on when he was shite-canned for his diatribes.
