I was all for DE when it seemed he would provide leadership. Then I could overlook his QB problems--like throwing, checking down, etc.

However, he has shown little leadership ability. Yes he is a tough SOB and willing to put it out their, but his ability is minimal.

He made so many mental mistakes against UF it was unreal. We should have never won that game with that QB play. We had a RB wide open in the left flat DE saw him but tried to force a ball over the middle? That play alone which was a gimme almost cost us the game. Another time UF player drops a pick six, only WR down field pass was underthrown but Chark bailed him out. No way we would be worse with the Freshman.

Oh good lord the safe crap needs to stop. Just on a highlight video alone for that game I saw what should have been 3 ints where he threw it directly to the DBs. Chark had to go back (like he did vs Chattanooga) and make a simultaneous catch so one wouldn't be intercepted, and the other two were dropped by stone hand DBs.

Honestly he's not been safe, he's been extremely lucky. They say a player's/team's luck evens out after a while, so expect to see this "doesn't turn the ball over" thing disappear.

He has been the biggest holdup on this offense. Good defenses have not and will continue not respecting him as a passer. They don't bite on playaction for TD's multiple times in a game. Enough with the excuses. This is what lack of real QB competition got us. Stuck with DE because O didn't want to hurt his feelings or hear it from DE's fan club.

And yes he's tough, but to say he's the toughest just because he takes stupid hits is crazy. Mett crawled off the field against probably the best Bama defense the past decade. DE's hits are caused by himself just like most of his sacks. The train is derailed and crashed and it's time to get another train.

you do not learn how to go through progressions and be accurate in one week. sorry but those are just the facts. let's see if a miracle happens and he proves us wrong

He threw a pretty good lob to the FB in the end zone...and he threw a good pass to Gage(?) in the left corner of the end zone....those passes were quick timing routes and the receiver was in the right place at the right time....the defense had no chance to get in Etling’s face...I think given time and an open receiver, Etling seems to do well....it’s when those pesky linemen are about to crush him that he seems to be a little off target....the throw to Williams....he (Etling) May have thrown it as though he thought the wr was a 4.5 guy....and it was Williams. Not knocking Williams....I like what he has been doing so far this year...just not as fast as Chark...

Anyone ready to jump on Etling bandwagon?

No. He has the heart of a warrior but lacks the physical attributes. Love the guy's heart but he is slow as frick at running which is why he takes tough hits unneccessarily. If he were a good scrambler, he could make the yardage and slide. I would rather him get some good yardage and slide than get killed. That said, I can't wait until Brennan puts some weight on and gets on the field on the regular.

I've accepted it. Moving on..... Coaching staff seems to believe in him as well. He will need to play the best game of his LSU career to beat Auburn. The team takes on identity of QB - for whatever that's worth. Look for LSU to play a very physical game Sat. and Etling to complete 12-15 passes. That would be AWESOME and help the Tigers win!

I used to sort of be on the bandwagon because i felt he could be serviceable

But the guy is regressing.

He's always been late with the ball.

He's always been too quick to flush.

He's always failed to recognize open receivers

But at least he USED TO BE accurate.

Now, even that's gone

I wasnt 100% sure the other day when I said you were getting worse by the post.
Thanks for putting any tiny doubt I may have had out of my head with the above little gem.
You are a fricking idiot. Plus you are angry and seem really bitter at the whole program.

Still on Etling train. Not a knock against Brennan but he threw a pair of picks against Troy. I could argue that that's why we lost (actually, we lost due to piss poor coaching from an overpriced meddling pirogue builder). Etling's efforts have not cost us a game yet due to turnovers and he'll put the team on his back.

This is his team.

Without a doubt, he will need to play better moving forward. Hes missing throws and reads, which is a problem especially for a Sr.
Hes clearly not comfortable in the passing game, some of that is on him, some of it is on his protection and lack of running game.

But hes one tough guy, and doesnt turn the ball over, no matter what anyone says. This crap about he shouldve had 2 picks last week, blah blah blah. Thats some nit picking crap there. You can say that almost about any QB at any level in any game.
He is getting crushed and is losing confidence in the OL to give him a clean pocket. Who in college wouldnt be? But , he must play better regardless.

He's coming off back surgery as well. He's tough and he protects the ball. Period on that. Is it good enough to keep us in the game against the powerhouses? Im not so sure, but it was last year when he had a decent OL. He had us in the endzone against AU (called back) and on the 1 against Fla.

Its pretty rare for a college QB to not have any turnovers this late in the season with his protection and the number of hits hes taken.

Its a tough call do you want your QB to go 18-24 250 yds, 2 tds and 2 turnovers or a guy that goes 9-16, 125 yds, 1 TD and no turnovers?
