If O tanks out the year and LSU refuses to buy him out that is the ultimate slap to the face to the fans. They're saying, "Yeah, we know we created this situation but we won't pay for it. Instead, we expect you (Tiger fans) to pay for it by continuing to buy the tickets and attend the games. We know you could refuse to do it but we don't think you will." They may be right but I would hope there are enough fans unwilling to let them get away with it to put the strain on them financially. Is it a lot to ask to give up the season tickets and goingto the games? Yes, but how bad do you want to not suck for the next decade plus? Do what you want but if F King, Alleva, the BOS let O continue on at season's end then they are spitting right in your face and then expecting you to pay for the privilege.

Buying out O would just be us digging a deeper hole.

We are in football jail.

Those circumstances wouldn't apply.

It was a good attempt though.

Unfortunately, unless O quits or has some type of NCAA violation, we're going to owe him the buyout when he gets shite canned after this season.

It is business ... nothing to do with the fans.
Sorry if this does not fit your narrative.

How?

The only reason they're not going to buy out Orgeron is because they're afraid of the ridicule that comes with paying two coaches to not coach and having to shell out top dollar for a third coach.

Practically speaking firing him today would be the best thing for the long term health of the program.

This preoccupation with short term negative press is how we ended up with Orgeron in the first place.

After 25 years as a season ticket holder, promise you that LSU and their administration could care less about the "fans".

Maybe. But look at it this way. You're going to pay that money either way. Either you do so by just cutting ties with Ogeron and moving on, or you pay him to continue to drag down the program before he is dismissed.

LSU has set themselves up for somewhat of a rebuilding process. Your 2016 and 2017 recruiting classes were very good. Get the new coach in after this year and he will at least have some good young pieces to build with. Sure, you may tank the 2018 class (which, honestly, isn't looking outstanding to being with), but it allows for only a small dip vs. a likely much bigger dip if Orgeron is allowed to stay.

It's just like the Johnny Jones situation. After he fell flat on his face with the Ben Simmons class it was abundantly clear he wasn't the guy to lead LSU to big success. LSU could have cut ties with him and let the new coach come in with what should have still been a decent roster (absent Simmons). The new coach would have been able to steady the ship a bit and then get a jump on rebuilding things with the 2016 recruiting class. Instead, you let Jones coach a team that had completely quit on him. In the process he tanked the program and created a void in recruiting, thus forcing Wade to rebuild from the ground up.

There is already damage done as a result of the last 3 years of complete incompetence. Stop it at it's current level before it gets much worse.

The fans are going to pay for it either way.

On top of the fact that you'd now be paying 3 guys, who the hell would take this job after we fired the most successful coach in our history then fired his replacement after 1 year?

Yep, but most don't understand it. Once Alleva screwed around and let it be known in 2015 that he was aiming for Jimbo Fisher and it fell through(like most sentient people knew it would) and he did not have a Plan B in the works, it opened up the door.....then he keeps Miles, but it also lets Miles know that he's only there because their boyfriend jilted them Then Alleva F's up and fires Miles 1/4 of the way into the season after losing by a combined total of 6 points to two very good teams which sent a really bad message to prospective coaches

Fking A was right to stop Alleva when he did. Alleva had no plan and had fricked up the whole Jimbo/Miles/ no one thing.....Fking, IMHO should have done the same to Alleva after the Miles firing last year after Auburn . Tat was the cherry on top of the cake that sent us into football jail .

Why Alleva still has a job is a mystery....he has improved nothing in terms of the sports teams while he has been here.

He must have a patron that many fear.

I love these threads...

What if this happened: Orgeron wins like 3 games this year so we buy him out and fire him. Literally after one year. Then we're paying Miles and O to do nothing. Then we hire somebody like Chip Kelly or Bob Stoops. Like we throw the checkbook at them and pay them like $8 mil a year. Then they come in and literally win like 1 game and lose all the rest. Like, let's say they do that two years in a row?

What you gonna do about that?

Like the previous poster said - LSU is in football jail. We fired a coach that was well liked but we presumed to be downsliding and agreed to a big buyout. Then we crapped out on his replacement.

Thems the breaks, buddy. Suck it up and enjoy the lower ticket prices and better parking spaces for a few years. Orgeron isn't going ANYWHERE for at least 2 years.
