With complying with a legal order? Sure

With getting shot over it in every situation? No

Can't really tell anything from that. His shirt was hanging loose and he could have easily had a gun under it and been pulling it out.

Once again, yet another black man not obeying the police. If he just does what is asked instead of fighting with the police he is fine.

Really sick and tired of blaming the police for stuff like this when it was well within the power of the suspect to make the correct decision and obey law enforcement.

Do you think everyone that doesn't follow a legal order gets shot in every situation?

It's definitely an improvement over "he just shot a cop that's all"

and the moment you run especially over something so light they have to believe you have possession of something you shouldn't...like an illegally possessed firearm

Because riding a bike at night without a light is such a safe thing to do. Whether it was the cop or some driver who couldn't see the idiot, death was inevitable

Y'all can't be serious with this bullshite. If you're poor enough to have to ride a bike at night for transportation, I'm not expecting you to go to WalMart and buy a bike light.

FREEDOM!!! Unless you want to do something mildly dangerous in which case you deserve to lose freedom of movement.

What people need to understand is unarmed doesn't equal not dangerous.

Where did I say that? It was in response to the typical comments in here like "well if he would've listened he wouldn't be dead".

I sometimes think that the BLM movement with their message of "cops will kill you" has people in the black community doing things that they normally wouldn't have done prior to the organization being founded.

BLM is just the manifestation of how the f'n prog/DEM/MSM have been 'educating' black youth for decades.

DEM 'leaderhip' over the past 30 years should be convicted of crimes against humanity.

We can't justify shoots because there "could" have been a deadly threat, wtf

Actually he was armed if you believe the police. He had a knife on him and told them about it and told him he would cut them.

We should start teaching kids how to interact with police during traffic stops whatever

For instance if you run and turn towards them they have a half second to make a decision and they don't know what you have in your possession...they may shoot you

Now, even if the cop who shot him was in the wrong in this situation. at what point are a majority of people willing to say "black people stop being more likely to run from or fight the police when they attempt to arrest you when you know you broke the law and you will stop getting shot, simple as that?"

Well, about half of America (Progressive) and 90% of Blacks believe that the *Law* - and by extension the Cops that enforce it - is essentially unjust and immoral. They believe that violent resistance is justified in "fundamentally changing the Nation".

So...immovable object meet unstoppable force.

True but there's an escalation of force

However they didn't know he was unarmed and he made a move that gave them no choice

Terrible watching him get shot.

I agree with this. If people want to put their lives in jeopardy, go for it. Don't need the nanny state.

well summarized = probably the thought in the back of every LEO's mind on every stop they make for any reason.

Cops are humans who just want to live to see their children after their shift is over.

Here's the local Salt Lake City article with the bits about the criminal record, about Harmon giving a false name initially, about him having a knife, and about him threatening to use the knife. Shocked that the Telegraph left all these parts out On top of the aforementioned points, this link also includes a longer video which shows Harmon acting in an aloof manner and seemingly being more concerned with his cigarette than with the officers questioning him.

LINK

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill has cleared a Salt Lake City police officer who fatally shot a man on Aug. 13, after the man allegedly pulled a knife and threatened to injure officers trying to arrest him.

When asked for identification, according to the report, Harmon gave the officer a name that did not have a match in a police database. Body camera footage released Wednesday shows the officer searching for a name in the police database unsuccessfully.
In the video, the officer again asks Harmon for the spelling of his last name. The district attorney’s report said Harmon gave “a couple of different names.” Body camera footage shows Harmon quietly spelling his name and the officer asking for clarification multiple times.

The officer did another check in the police database and found that Harmon had arrest warrants, including one for a felony. That warrant was for an aggravated assault, according to the report. Court records show that a $10,000 felony warrant had been issued in April, after Harmon did not show up for the sentencing. In that case, Harmon had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.

The officer who originally contacted Harmon drew his stun gun, and another, Officer Clinton Fox, drew his gun. All three officers reported hearing Harmon threaten to cut them. They saw him reach toward his right pants pocket and that he had something in his hand, the report said.
Fox later told investigators he saw a knife in Harmon’s hand with the blade exposed. He believed another officer was dangerously close to Harmon, he said.

Not sure what threat he posed to the LEOs/public and why deadly force would be authorized in that situation!

He was black, and they're cops. That means they're terrified of him.
