What do you say to your kickers after the whole team knows you said that?

Serious question

Agreed. If I was a kicker I might Charlie Brown it for the rest of the season, except that it might get my holder killed.

Honestly, it's the kicker. They are either hero or goat. That's the role.

Yaw Yaw footbaw. That's what he's going to say. You just don't say shite like that. Even though our kickers are garbage this year, you don't just completely kick them while they're down if you're the coach. Especially not to the press or on live broadcast ffs. Pull them into your ogre den and express it to them personally, and they may take it as constructive criticism. Now, they're like holy shite we really suck that bad that our coach blasts us on the air to our own fans and media. What a complete dumbass. That's pretty much common knowledge I thought, but, simple Ed doesn't have common knowledge.

That’s my point, confidence is a big part of kicking. Our kicking already sucks so what does his statement help? It just seems pretty stupid For a guy fighting for his job to say a MAJOR part of his offense isn’t there and he hopes to recruit better next year. These are young kids, not professional athletes being paid

I officially hate orgeron, he’s so far in over his head that it isn’t even funny. He’s completely lost as a head coach

The problem is that O said this stuff to the media.

Unlike Saban and Belicheck, O uses the media to try and sell his narrative to the cajun idiots over there. Saban couldn't give a frick about what the media thinks, or the fans even. He lets his results speak for themselves.

But back to the topic, this is to be said in the locker room. Not the media. O's a man. He's over 40. He should know this.

Exactly. I wish so bad that the players would say we have played so bad this year because we haven't been coached, our coach sucks, don't worry though, we are going to hire the best coach in the country next year. I would fricking love it.

So, wheres all of this great knowledge that coach o has acquired over his past failure as a head coach? Didn't he say that? Damn, he's doing horrible at every aspect of a head coach right now.

I don't think he is a good coach and I don't think he has it in him. But I'm not going to ridicule him over this.

How many teams go for it on 4th down around their own 35 line? That's the coach saying "I don't have faith in you" to their kicker. It's literally the same thing.

Dude. Ed orgeron said word for word..."we just don't have a field goal kicker". Lol, link me a single quote or audio/video of les miles saying anything so directly condescending about one of his players. You won't find one.

You do realize that coaches don't even talk like that about other teams players right?...much less their own. Holy shite.

It is one thing not to have a reliable kicker. It is quite another to have one who can dependably hit 52 yard field goals. I think kickers understand when coaches don’t want to risk that.

Aren't both kickers combined 3-7 this year? That's not exactly dependable

Miles said gunner Kiel "had no chest" when he chose not to commit to lsu. Thats a shot. Not exactly the same but he still took a shot at another player.

He didn’t just throw them under the bus, he gave up on an entire position group.

He didn’t say they were in a slump.

He didn’t say that they were working hard to fix it.

He just said wait until next year.

It was the closest he could come to kicking them off of the team without actually doing it.

Perfect synopsis. Its unfathomable to me that he thinks these comments are acceptable.

He basically said "our current kickers are horrible, they are not capable of getting better, so we're screwed until next year."

Find me another head coach that says they don’t have a kicker and need to recruit one for the next year 5 games into the season

Find me another recruit kicker that wants to play for a coach that says something like that

I’ll be waiting...

People don’t realize that a statement like that speaks massive volumes

I agree if you are talking QB or something. I mean we are talking about the kicker though. The friggin field goal kicker.

All I'm trying to do is keep people in point. Yes O needs to go. But to continue calling out ticky tack shite like this is being ridiculous. They are 3-7 combined (or something like that). Let him go get one that is more accurate and he feels best to win games. It's his job to lose. It's not a reason to call him an idiot because he wants to go recruit a kicker.

No major head coach would completely abandon faith in his kickers going into the hardest stretch of their schedule. It’s pretty fricking simple, even if you are thinking it, you don’t say it to the media.

He’s not cut to be a head coach, he’s a an idiot in over his head that got offered a ton of money.

Kiel was not an LSU Tiger.
