The fact there are 28 movies listed ahead of this one is just sad.

Not enough black people.

I've been meaning to make a thread on it, but The Big Sick is a really good film. Simple story that is carried by some superb acting. It won't win, but if the Oscar's continue the recent trend of a large number of nominees it might sneak in there. Holly Hunter is a lock for supporting actress nomination.
If I had to put money down now I'd go Call me by Your Name and Ladybird. No interest in the former, but I'm a sucker for coming of age films so I'm definitely looking forward to Ladybird. A-24 will try to repeat after getting Moonlight the win.

Detroit and Get Out will both get multiple nominations. Peele will be nominated for best director.

Wouldn't be surprised if Get Out gets a couple noms, but Detroit kinda came and went without much buzz so I'm not so sure

What's the context for your "wtf" moment here? lol
is it:
a) wtf, I didn't know DDL was going to be in another PTA movie!!
or
b) wtf, how can they say he's an early favorite when the movie doesn't have a title and we haven't even seen a trailer yet?
I do think it's hilarious how he's held in such high regard that he would be considered a favorite when no one really knows anything about his performance at this time.
I think I heard that this might be his last movie, as he intends on retiring. If that's the case, then I really hate that he's going out with this movie. He may be brilliant and it may win all sorts of awards, but the premise just does nothing for me, and I'm not sure I would really take the time to watch. I love most of his movies, but this one might end up being a pass.

No Baby Driver? List is shite.

Christopher Nolan has never been nominated for an Oscar as a director. He has zero shot at winning and I won't be surprised if he gets snubbed again.
