First experience with spraying talstar in the yard and exterior of the house. Holy smokes, my backyard/patio is an actual graveyard of spiders, crickets, german cockroaches and ants.
Just moved into a new house on a little pond and the bugs outside have been a problem (especially trying to grill and watch TV on the patio). I cannot get over the results of spraying this stuff. Even the flying bugs are not collecting around the glow of the TV or outdoor lights since I sprayed everything down!
Question for you baws with experience with it, how often should I be re-applying?

I've applied spray every month and granular every 3. That's what the guy at the feed store recommended. There has been a noticeable difference.

I'm looking at getting away from the pest control people with exception of the termite contract.
What's an average cost per month for this stuff? Or maybe, how long does a container of spray last? Obviously, sqft etc make a difference, but let's use a 1800sqft home since that's about normal.

I don't know about Talstar, but i used Suspend SC that i got from a pest place and it was $70. You can get probably 10-12 applications out of it. Worked great.
I recently bought Taurus SC online for $40.
All of those products work 10x's better than the crap from Home Depot and are well worth the money.

I use Bifen I/T that I get from Amazon. I have found that the duration of effectiveness depends on how concentrated it is when I spray it. If I can easily see it on the leaves and grass when I'm spraying (dbl or triple the called for amount), it'll last a couple of months around the house. If it is thinner, it won't last as long. It also depends on how much and intensity of rain.
One gallon goes a long way. It was like $35 IIRC.

Are y'all spraying this indoors?

I don't with the Bifen, but you can. I don't have bugs inside

The only place i'll spray indoors is at doorways. Not sure where else you'd spray. I spray the hell out of the weepholes and anything else that enters my house from the outside like pipes or cables. If bugs are finding ways outside of that, then you've got a bigger problem.

You can get generic Talstar (7.9% Bifenthrin) at Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Amazon, etc for about $20-25 for 32oz

Just checked Amazon. You can get 3/4 gallon (96oz) of the same stuff for $33

I have an exterminator I pay to spray my home. I was curious when someone said they want to get away from an exterminator. Did that mean he was going to spray this in his home.

Probably less than $5/ month, and takes probably 10 minutes to do the entire inside and outside of a home once a month.

My house is raised on blocks, so I spray the blocks and try to get to the sill plates underneath for termites. Hell, I sprayed a wood pile a month before termite season, and nothing got touched

I go about every 6 months
ETA: that's with Granules for fire ants.
Inside of my home I only spray around the entry ways and under the bathtubs after a week or two of hard rain. I spray the outside of my house about every 3 months with suspend or premetherin because it knocks the shite out of spiders, spiders attract wasp and I hate wasp. Suspend has a longer residual that the premetherin.

I use talstar granule about every 6 months. It really does a good job ridding bugs and ants.

Takstar pro sprayed with a boom sprayer Knicks down mosquito populations in the yard for nearly 3 weeks.
Nothing else comes close.
