They are trying everything in their power to adjust. More refugees, illegal immigrants, illiterates, AF's, and whoever else they can find with open hands with a vote to sell.

Well said. To the OP, there is just a core evangelical block that will vote for Moore regardless of who is running. The mod dems switched to repubs years ago to keep a job. Jones is kind of the last of a dying breed on that side. AL needs a shift to the left. We are so right, we can't even get a lottery. Evangelicals vote against it, then jump on the bus for Biloxi.

You realize it wasn't until about six years ago Republicans gained control of the Alabama House and Senate for the first time since reconstruction, right?

John Bel Edwards is no liberal. He is a classic moderate. He is the only Democrat in Louisiana that could have had any chance at winning statewide office. And we all know his win came because the Repubs voted for Vitter as their "family values" candidate.

I am a liberal and JBE is no liberal.

It would be great if we got a moderate or conservative Dem but the Democratic Party in Alabama is dumpsterfire.

Seems like Tuscaloosa County should be winnable for the Dems with all the students and faculty. And yet they lost the Presidential there 57 to 43 or some crap. I mean that is an arse kicking in an area with a relative concentration of young/liberal -leaning people.

Roy Moore, who will win tomorrow in Bama, is a total charlatan idiot nutjob

Which is exactly why those hicks love him. Same reason that walking neck jowl Kennedy, who isn't as bad as Moore but is clearly a bonafide idiot, is now Senator Kennedy from the great state of Louisiana. Edwards beating Vitter proved we aren't QUITE as far gone as them, but anyone other than Diaper Dave and it'd have been a different story.

No dem has a realistic chance of winning in AL, but running a candidate that's popular with the democratic base and hoping to win on a super turnout gives them like a 0.1% chance instead of the 0.0001% chance they'd have if they ran a candidate the base couldn't support and tried instead to win over Republicans.

It's almost embarrassing to me,that the State I call home may send Roy Moore to Congress.

I knew they were a lot of stupid people here.Didn't think there were that many.

Doug Jones, the Democratic Candidate, has that Tim Kaine crazy look.

One factor is that a lot of folks haven't forgotten how hard Luther Strange,as Attorney General, fought against Gambling Machines at the Dog Tracks in Alabama. He took their Slot Machines away in 18 Wheeler's.People haven't forgotten or forgiven.

Alabamians are just smart enough to realize that when someone attaches that D after their name, that regardless of what the person says, we know they are aligned with the Devil!

Sure I know that. That's because the Democratic Party in Alabama only survived because of the "yellow dog" democrats. They held the same conservative stances as republicans do today. This was the "old south" Democratic Party that only lived in local elections. The state house was still highly conservative so you are speaking of technicalities.

I have very nice things, thank you very much.

My kids have all gone to a great public school in an all white community.
I live in a 5700sq foot home on 3 acres.
We make a great living and all of my kids have gone to college thus far.

No. Unfortunately nothing can change Alabama. They don't vote based on yankee things like ideas and qualifications. They latch onto the most dysfunctional, unstable person in the race. That's why only dysfunctional, unstable people run for office in Alabama.
