Tin Roof Q and A

I like the Voodoo and have to say I haven't had the Juke Joint but I'm pulling for these guys. I think they do have a shot at getting bigger and better.

Anyone think of what they need to do? I've had some bad beers they put out over the years so hopefully that eases up.

A nice outdoor space would go a long way. Tin Roof having a NOLA kind of pull in getting people to the brewery would be huge for them in BR.

Jacob is a college buddy of mine and is a really nice guy. Good for him.

I haven't had any of Tin Roof's beer but I'm rooting for them, obviously.

Is it better to have an inconsistent brewery or no brewery at all? I think Tin Roof will only get better and it takes a lot of humility to admit you need a new CEO. Baton Rouge will support them so will I.

Good for them. I had a voodoo the other night. And while it wasn't bad, it was just bland. Didn't want me craving another.

The Voodoo Pale ale is solid.

I was also impressed the last time I had a Bayou Bengal Lager.

Juke Joint is a decent IPA but a little odd on the finish (Muscadine/Raisin notes)

FOMO DIPA is decent, a step in the right direction but a little to sweet for my preferences in a DIPA.

The new version Gameday IPA is light years better than the original version (which tasted like a hoppy bud light). It's an average Session IPA, not bad by any means but I'd prefer Founders All Day IPA 9 times out of 10.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Watermelon Wheat that they released this summer, it wasn't near as sweet as I had expected.

IMO, my least favorite beers on tap at the brewery right now are the Bocage Saison and the malty mess that is the Chicken Wire Bock.

Need to blow it up and start all over.

Also, LSU needs to make Parish Brewery the official beer of LSU. LA's flagship brewery for LA's flagship school.

Met him before. Coached his son in T-ball.

Here come the downvotes and snarky comments from people who haven't had a Tin Roof beer in 3 years.

Voodoo is a very good APA. Not quite on Envie's level, but still really solid.

Juke Joint 2.0 is a nice IPA. Very Mosaic forward, minus the onion that hop exudes a lot of times.

Gose With The Flow was a really well done gose this year. Crushable lawnmower/pool beer.

Gameday was improved this year, but I'd always pick Voodoo over that one given that they are very close in ABV.

FOMO wasn't really what I wanted in a NE-style DIPA. But it was far from undrinkable.

As far as the other flagships like Blonde, Turnrow, Bayou Bengal, they're not really things I drink in general, but they are perfectly fine beers. I don't drink Canebrake or Southern Drawl or NOLA Blonde either, but that doesn't mean they aren't well done beers by those breweries.

I do know Jacob and call him a friend. He knows the beer business both from the supplier side and the consumer side. He knows what consumers want and what sells. As long as he's given the resources, I think he can fine tune what's going on over there and do some things that both the general public and the beer nerds like.

Downvote away.

maybe because no one wants kids running around a brewery.... especially on Friday night

Voodoo is a great pale ale.

Not every pale yellow beer is attempting to taste like Julius.

I have never enjoyed tin roof's beers.

I haven't had a PA or IPA in about 2 years so maybe they taste better but when I tried to give it a shot a couple years ago, I was not a fan.
