The problem is that they have not forgotten those days. They remember them all too well. But they also remember the glory days and are scared to go back to the dark days. Completely understandable

Hmmm. So the "decline is real " is real?

I had forgotten, but the game Saturday reminded me of days darker than the ones you mentioned in 99, it reminded me of Curley's debut at College Station in '91.

21-0 was the darkest day ever for LSU football. Thanks Les.

Saying it's not as bad as the worst time in LSU football history is not saying it's good.
I want to give O time and want to see what a full year of O, Aranda, and Canada recruiting and coaching can do. But don't try to tell me it's fine because it's not the worst ever. This is just a stupid argument

Did you not see the product on field Saturday night? No knee jerk here. O did not have that team prepared at all. It was really bad.....worst loss I can remember in a long time. And spare me the Auburn game a few years back....
I did see it, will this one game define Orgeron's career as the head coach here at LSU? Because if it doesn't, that is the exact definition of kneejerk reaction.

We are about to revisit those dark days

1999 was not the dark days...try 89-94. Dinardo brought some of the magic back from 95-97, but unwisely hitched his wagon to Lou Tepper. Hallman was a much darker period than Dinardo ever was.

Program has become a NFL factory, players more worried about leaving for the league as soon as they can.
Those that don't play, transfer.
My guess is Jacoby is next to leave.

False. The Miss St game was a very vivid reminder of the Dark Ages. That's the problem.

STFU. Do you miss them? We've moved on to a culture of success. I'm sorry you long for the comfort of consistent mediocrity. Move to Arkansas or Tennessee.

And ticket prices were 1/3, you could actually tailgate on campus, it did not take 2 hours to get from campus to the interstate, the stadium was not full of unnecessary additions and non-stop commercialism.
This season is not over so from that standpoint, you are correct. However, all this how terrible things were in the past is not completely accurate. The game day experience was MUCH better back then.

Didn't that have something to do with the purple shirts the NCAA made us wear back then?
no, that is silly thinking
remember the day game curse? for years we could not win a day game in TS. we finally broke that so called curse against kentucky in 1987.

we need to be fighting like hell not to go back

It doesn't matter. We were on the verge of winning 3 NC since 2003 and the only team in college football to do so. We were at the top of the college football mountain. Now look at us. frick

Most of these posters have no idea and will have to google the history to know. Most grew with Miles as the only coach that they knew and remember.
