I didn't make it up. I heard it from a couple friends that are still in Greek life at LSU. They told me on the day it happened so their info may have been wrong. That's why I said apparently.
Bruh, the day it happened was way too early for anyone to be debating charged, much less would anyone in school know WTF was going on.

This means there is no shot of them returning to campus.
Is that accurate? Seems like rarely is a chapter given a true death sentence no matter what, for example SAE and some others. No doubt best case scenario for them would be 4-5 year ban with many restrictions upon recolonizing or whatever.

I should've worded that better. I meant there is no shot they somehow survive the suspension. They'll probably be reorganized sometime within the next decade, especially since they have to find something to do with that house.

You're right. A few years away from LSU made me forget how rampant and wrong initial rumors usually are in this case.

That's what I would expect too. Only question is whether nationals would want to come back later on.

LSU is a school that many national organizations would love to have a chapter. The only question is if the fact that this particular chapter has been wiped out twice now and cleaned out once more in the past 17 years makes them decide that it's not worth it.

i thought y'all had to fight to get the charter- then permission to live in the house... seemed like a few years of deliberations. the guys i knew were good guys. they weren't meatheads or douchebags. y'all had pretty genuine people. i liked the phi delt guys i met from alabama. i think it was alabama or ole miss or miss state.
i vehemently support the greek community at LSU. i might not be 100% privy to all the "hazing" rituals fraternities engage in, but from what i do know and from what i have seen with my own two eyes, the "hazing" isn't really hazing. it's just a group of guys going through the same stuff together to create a bond amongst the pledge class. silly things like making them all spend a night out in the woods or cleaning up after parties. yeah, sometimes the stuff they ask you to do sucks... but you're earning your credibility and building an eternal brotherly bond. i mean, seriously, my middle school made us do this ropes course together for an entire two days. it was for team building. it's not a terrible comparison, imo.
most importantly- not many active greeks would ever force someone else to do something they didn't want to do or that they didn't feel comfortable doing in order to gain membership.
never in my life have i had the impression, feeling, or been made aware of any hazing at LSU (if you even want to call it that negatively connotated word)- that was intended to harm pledges. those actives like their pledges. it's how they keep that experience and their legacy alive for others to experience and enjoy.

great post and I wish this perspective, which is far more reflective of reality than what the public thinks, could make it into the national/media dialogue.

Phi Delt has nationally enforced dry housing. Reguardless of how it happened, a kid died because they let irresponsible drinking go on where it wasn't allowed to. They broke a national fraternity bylaw and a kid died because of it, so I would say yes it's fair that they all pay the price...
Well that changes things drastically. I wasn't aware the frat enforced a dry rule.

Sweet Jesus. Of all the dumb shite I did in a Phi Delt house (not that one) we all new enough to leave everclear for trash can punch etc. not for fricking shots. All of those kids better be giving up their alcohol intake and exagggerating it. If any of those frickers was sober? They are beyond fricked.

This is accurate. Unfortunately, even making pledges be sober drivers is considered hazing and can technically get you suspended if Greek Life wants to.

what pledges go through is no worse than what big brothers or big sisters do to their younger siblings growing up.
what they call "hazing" might have happened before my generation of greeks.
plus, those little pledge dudes want to be there. they're PAYING to be there and have fun and experience everything that comes with it including earning their stripes.
tragedy happens everywhere and all the time. someone drinking too much and getting hurt could happen whether you're at a greek party or a gdi party. it is most certainly a tragic story, but i don't think the greek system needs to be the scapegoat.

Very well said.
And I will add that I was a pledge trainer. I felt one my duties was to be a protector of the pledges. I felt it was my responsibility to make sure that things would never get out of hand.
