BilJ I don't disagree with what you are saying. Those are all factors. But if the team was dominant like 2011 the stadium would be packed. Anyone whining about "hassle" would have no problem finding someone else to go. By contrast offering $2 cokes and $3 nachos and free parking will not bring fans out to see 7-5 level LSU play directional MAC/Sun Belt or FCS teams. That's all I'm saying.
It's the blockbuster video problem. When the product is hot, the customers are more than willing to bend over and take it. When the winds shift, though, the resentment you have cultivated comes home to roost.

I'd argue, it's a combination of the two.

I thought about including it, but decided it was self-evident. Thanks all the same.

For the most part, yea TAF has no power. But they do contribute a HUGE portion of the athletic department's operating budget. If enough contributing members start to lower their contributions, I think you'll see changes sooner rather than later.

I'm dumping my tickets after this year. It's not worth the hour drive each way and sweaty arse britches.

for the SEC slate no doubt, but this has been a trend for the cup cakes for a while. The non conference home slate this year is just pathetic, I get rent a wins are a necessary evil but they're really taking advantage of season ticket holders right now. There was a time when they could afford to have the "don't like it, someone behind you in line will take your tickets" those days appear to be coming to an end though.
Many are starting to do the basic math that its more cost efficient to just buy single game seats for the 1-2 games worth attending.

I hate this argument, but a good start would be to stop playing your only decent OOC game in Texas (or Wisconsin or god knows where) every year.
I know a lot of folks here don't like to see past the nose on their face, though. Keep lapping up whatever you're fed, I guess.

Miles actually never led an 8-4 season. He had 2 8-5s and 2 9-3s (out of 11 seasons). For full seasons, Miles averaged right about a 11-3.
I agree the time had come, but you just don't fire a coach like that with a half-baked replacement plan and a cat like Joe Alleva at the head of it.
I don't blame Orgeron. He's a bad coach, but he's a bad coach that took advantage of an opportunity and signed a 5 year contract with a 12 million dollar buyout.
I do not want LSU going through another coaching search if Joe Alleva is the one calling the shots. For multiple reasons, but mainly because of the one I just stated.

I went to every game, home and away, for the entire 00's decade. We had some really good home/home series. I don't know if it was hard to get in right before games because I was there early but it was certainly hard to get out.
Since the early 10's, my interest has waned dramatically. Home/home's replaced by neutral site games while season ticket prices get higher. My kids were born starting in 2012 so that's taken some time from my schedule and when you can't go to a game (even one of the shitty non-conf games we have) without spending your whole day trying to get in and get out, it’s just not worth the hassle. That combined with the product that we put on the field since 2011 and it’s just not worth it. I now sell my season tickets every tear with the hope that one day I’ll use them but it’s much easier to get ticket to a game here and there and usually get tickets for pretty cheap (even better now that no one will be going). As far as concessions, I could take it or leave it. it’s going to be high because of the situation so I won’t bitch too much there. I do hate that they nickel and dime you for everything else, though… I also LOATHE the amount of advertising that has engulfed LSU athletics. Not just signage in the stadium (which I hate) but everything on the radio broadcast is sponsored now (the red zone, a field goal, a sack). ENOUGH ALREADY…
Tl;dr my two biggest complaints are hassle to get in and out, the lack of quality opponents, and the amount of commercialization. It’s clear that LSU just doesn’t care about the fan experience and all they care about is making money (which i guess is good since we have to pay all the buyouts for our shitty coaches).
And note: I haven’t been to a game yet this year but I’m not looking forward to paying $50 to park by the levee. That will be added to my list once I experience it.

right you can sustain a poor year of conference games if you give at least one half arse entertaining game non conference wise. I'm not taking its gotta be an FSU, Michigan etc. but frick how about someone with a pulse.
instead you've signed up for these neutral site games under the guise of "recruiting" which is just a load of shite. They profit off of those games and can keep their home slate in tact because "frick em they have to buy them"....only like cord cutters, the consumer is starting to wisen up to their bullshite

I'm one of them. LSU AD and TAF get no more money from me until Alleva is gone. I've given up football and basketball tickets.

What will your opinion of Alleva be if Wade turns out to be a homerun hire?

People aren't going to keep paying out of the wazoo for 8-4 football. The fleecing of the fans is about to end, IMO. The symptoms are already creeping out. For example, the season ticket waitlist has been exhausted. Not many people know this because the AD didn't publicize it, but season tickets were available to the general public (brand new holders, no donations required) this year. The link was available for just a few days, but it was there on the website.
Tons of liabilities to fund with revenue that is definitely on shaky ground.
Interesting times.
Les Miles successfully ran the program into the ground. And 21-0 will be associated with him forever.

So if Wade does great Alleva just got lucky if he does bad Alleva is an idiot.

We have had tickets in the lower bowl for years. That extra $900 for the privilege to buy each ticket to see the crap we have been seeing will not last. The stupid parking fee in the levee lots sucks and is insane. I can do a lot more than take my kids to these games.

That he now has a success rate of 25% in major coaching hires. I'm pretty sure it drops if we starting including the novelty sports.
