its just not worth it to my wife and i to try to find someone to watch our young kids, fight traffic on the way to and from the game, pay to park, and pay out the arse for concessions I'll be attending Troy (to bring my 4 year old to his first game), Auburn, and maybe aTm.
Otherwise I've gotten to the point where its not worth the hassle when I can just have friends over while smoking a brisket and watch it on a 60 inch flat screen
There's still no feeling like being IN Tiger Stadium, but there is a weighing that must occur and that feeling alone just isnt enough anymore to make me want to deal with all the other BS
this x 100000000 I know a bunch of guys my age facing this dilemma. It's not the $$....it's the GD hassle that it has become.

Do you think these prices are unique to LSU? Arthur Blank and his brand new stadium and first home game not with standing, the prices at TS are in line with every other venue I've been too
That is the stupidest reasoning I have heard and a prime example of who so many businesses fail. Not saying they will fail but it shows no thought is put into what they are doing.

It isn't about being like everyone else. That's LSU's problem. If you aren't going to win and win big (and we're not), you're going to have to address the fan service problem. LSU is going to be in a position pretty soon when, "this is the cost of our results" isn't going to be a selling point any more. If the results suck, you're going to have to start trying to cater to your customers for once.

Uhm... Quit acting as if you own LSU because you don't.

For example, the season ticket waitlist has been exhausted. Not many people know this because the AD didn't publicize it, but season tickets were available to the general public (brand new holders, no donations required) this year. The link was available for just a few days, but it was there on the website
This happens when you keep adding seats to a stadium that's already too big. Need to remove seats by putting chair backs everywhere and get the capacity down to 90,000

A large part of that was people fed up with the Miles style and his refusal to adapt. People just weren't going to put money into it.
With O, you didn't generate really any legitimate faith from the fanbase which probably turned off some more fans that saw how inept Alleva is at his job.
Finally, this is how it is as of now, and will likely only get worse if LSU loses a few more games with any in a similar to fashion to MSU. If that happens, firing O will be the least of LSU/TAF's worries, because they'll lose more money than that $12 Million by keeping him if it comes to that.

To be fair, TAMU has a lot more room around their stadium than LSU does.
oh sure, but the highlight was not the clear difference in the use of available resources between LSU and TAMU.
What struck me the most was the stark contrast in organization, efficiency and positive attitude of the TAMU game day experience.

I really hope Alleva and the rest of the stadium policy makers read this thread. They need to think more about the everyday fan instead of trying to make extra money.
I understand that its a business and the goal is to make greater margins, but there comes a point where it becomes ridiculous. $40 parking in the damn hay lot.
If ignored, substantial losses will show.

I have six in the S Stadium Club. The lack of leadership and the hiring of E O has me at the end.
Been great for most of 20 yrs.

I just watch it on TV and let yall keep thinking that you get a say in decisions just because you were dumb enough to give money.

Should have been able to get plenty of seats this year. Know plenty of people that walked after decades.

Used to come to BR for every home game. Sold all 4 of my season tix and wont be there for any games this season. BR is a shithole and now LSU football cant even make it worth it for me to come there.

What in the hell are you guys talking about
I'm not opening a business so I really have no idea what that means and pointing out in stadium concession prices being high at LSU is not unique to LSU is not saying we should do it because every one else does. My point is, that while people bitch about it all the time, it has little, I would suggest actually zero impact on fan attendance. Lowering prices like Blank is little more than a gimmick, a nice gesture I suppose from a guy fleecing tax payers, but it will have no impact on attendance.
Winning will always bring fans. Concession prices were not lower in 2011, 2012, 2003 etc and we had packed houses. They are not cheaper in the dome when NC tickets were going for 800-1000+. A championship contender will increase attendance, improved schedules would help.

there are several issues brewing to make a perfect storm for LSU:
CRAP HOME SCHEDULES!!!!!
the hassle of getting to and from the stadium - and with the Sharon Weston Broome administration you can forget about any infrastructure improvements that will make access/egress to LSU any easier (what they don't realize is that the amount of sales taxes they will lose with a decrease in LSU attendance)
lack of cooperation between LSU, BR police, and LA state police on traffic issues
continuing to increase costs to the average fan for parking and concessions
cultural deafness from the administration and athletic director

Right now you're battling:
1. The sports bubble already beginning to pop. Home entertainment systems have some a long way, technologically and in affordability. People are just starting to prefer the in home experience vs. being there.
2. LSU is currently a very mediocre product with a really uninteresting schedule. Who wants to fight the hassle of game day crap to see us slog it out with random directional schools from across the country? The greed for neutral site games has just killed the home and home. Yet prices for tickets have increased, a push back was inevitable.

Honestly I believe its more of the dumpster fire of the logistics that is getting/leaving LSU for a game.
It pains me to see the stadium file out so early half the time, but if its people trying to get home you know before 3 am, then I can't say as I blame them entirely.
But like many people have said, winning does cure a lot of things. People will pay the price of season tickets and expensive concessions and even deal with the paying to park if they have a championship type team to watch that is playing for something. When the dumpster fire starts to get lit, (Which is whats happening now), its going to get ugly quick.

quote:Ole Miss has much better concessions and pricing. And that's without considering the logistical issues plaguing LSU concessions currently.

BilJ I don't disagree with what you are saying. Those are all factors. But if the team was dominant like 2011 the stadium would be packed. Anyone whining about "hassle" would have no problem finding someone else to go. By contrast offering $2 cokes and $3 nachos and free parking will not bring fans out to see 7-5 level LSU play directional MAC/Sun Belt or FCS teams. That's all I'm saying.

People aren't going to keep paying out of the wazoo for 8-4 football.
The 8-4 football is only part of the equation. The real problem is the crappy home schedule, traffic, parking, and overall fan experience.
Why pay a hefty tradition fund and all that when you can go outside the stadium for every game except bama and get 10-$40 tickets before game time?
