tried to eyeball 5lbs of rice while precariously holding the 10lb bag over the pot.
needless to say all 10lbs ended up in the pot. luckily it was a practice batch and there wasnt a hungry crowd waiting

In middle school when my parents were't home, I decided to re-fry some left over shrimp to make sure it was crispy. I lit the pot with oil and forgot about it until I hear the oil catch fire. As a brilliant young man, my first instinct was "FIRE! NEED TO PUT WATER ON IT!!" My God, The fireball that ensued had the intensity of a 1000 suns. Burnt about half the kitchen, melted the stove vent, destroyed the light fixtures, and we had to bring in a remediation company to clean and get out the stench of burnt house. All I had to do was remove it from the fire and put a lid on it,

For me it was cutting a big chunk off of my thumb. It grew back but there's a slight angle on the tip. Lol......

Once put a raw egg in the microwave by itself.
Put like 5 minutes on it and hit start.
...it exploded with so much force that it blew the microwave door open and went everywhere.
My Mom was pisssssssssed.

Too many to recount but one that stands out because it was most recent is, I mistook the salt I measured for a large batch of macaroni & cheese for sugar that was never measured for a pecan pie. Just in case you're wondering, salty pecan pie doesn't taste good...

Had 14 people...family and friends... over for Troy debacle last weekend. Put two bottles of decent champagne in freezer because somebody wanted that and the damned ice maker is broken or I would have put in ice bucket. We all got sheeeeiiiit hammered on bourbon forgot about them. Next morning, with horrible hangover, woke up to exploded glass everywhere.

I once forgot I ordered a pizza and started cooking dinner.

You really need to let Corning Ware cool from out of the oven before you try to clean it in the sink with cool water

Would broken roux make it taste bad? It broke when I added to the stock, but after lots of whisking, it incorporated.
I’ve seen it break when the added stock was room temp, blends easier the warmer it is

I worked as a line cook for a few years so yeah I burned myself from time to time. I'll say this. They always looked fricking cool. Whenever we head and peeled shrimp is always end up throwing the heads into my tail bowl.

Used to burn self when removing pan from oven all the time. To solve it when I pull the pan from the oven, I leave a side towel or oven mitt on handle. Both as a reminder of a hot pan and a way to make sure protection if I grab it (or anyone walking by)

I was tasked with baking several baguettes for Christmas dinner. Made my poolish, started in plenty of time for rising, made the dough. After the 1st rise the dough didn't look quite right, but didn't register. Formed the loaves, just didn't look right, must be my imagination. After baking they were terrible loaves, flat doughy. I went back, retraced my steps, I had used self rising flour, not bread flour.
Bought some Leidenheimer's.
