How much do FiremenEMT's make ?

Girl I work with has three boys under 10 and her husband stays gone all the time (Firefighter/EMT).
She's always late or taking the day off for this and that because her husband was at work.
This guy must be making $150,000 a year for the time he puts in.

Juat because someome is working a ton of hrs dont mean they are making 150k (an emt isnt) it just means he is doing all he can to support his family

I know a couple guys that do it and they make mid 30's but the benefits are phenomenal so that's the main reason they do it. One has a landscaping business and the other has a pool service business.

Depends on his rank and side job. Starting out bout 35k, operator 60k, captain 80K, and so on. That's for BRFD. If he's working part time some can make real good money. Which almost all have to.

well for one, they all have a 2nd job
and they don't make hardly anything for base pay, but most make decent money when overtime

They make decent money, and get a govt retirement at 40 years old. It's a sweet gig if you can get it.

my Dad retired as a fireman at 63 and he gets 90% of his salary (he retired as Chief) for the rest of his life

HFD is kicking and screaming while they slowly get fricked by the mayor/city. There WERE great benefits. Many of those older guys retired at 50 to focus on their side job and or work part time with another fire department or EMS.
Nobody was pulling 6-figures from their primary job but some make good money.
Salary freezes and outright cuts have been discussed. And those pensions are gone baby. They WILL take them. From each department.
Pure anecdote but I heard HFD is having huge issues with shortages as many guys who could get out did while the pension remained intact.

Don't most work 24 on and 48 off? That's the reason most have a side job, is because they easily can.
As said, I wouldn't let that be an excuse for the wife to miss work. That is absurd, she's late because he is working his side job too much.
