I can't think of a player similar to him as far as their career goes.

He's been a 4 year starter at QB for an OSU program which has been legit title contenders in all 4 years in which he has been there. He broke onto the scene as a freshman and was a dark horse heisman candidate before injury, and has been a preseason favorite for the award each year since. And yet, he's just not a very good QB.

My first thought was Jordan Jefferson. Started for a good LSU team for 4 years, but lsu wasn't the same level of contender during that stretch that OSU has been, plus JJ was never a heisman candidate (and Barrett isn't as bad as JJ).

AJ McCarron? He was a much better QB though.

Maybe Braxton Miller or Tahj Boyd? Clemson/OSU weren't at that level OSU has been now though.

I don't know, it's odd to me.

David Greene and Matt Stafford. Probably been an Oklahoma qb or 2.

Buckeyes will hate this, but Christian Hackenberg.

I like that comparison in the sense that they both had ultra promising freshman seasons and looked like the next big thing, and then never really grew or developed and maybe even regressed.

Idk about this. Urban Meyer is probably a lot better at playing to his strengths thsn Les miles was with JJ. Jefferson probably could've been decent with Meyer

It's hard to say. Right now Barrett has 72 TDs to only 22 interceptions. Has nearly 7,000 passing yards with almost a full season to go and over 2,500 yards rushing with 32 rushing tds.

Jordan Jefferson had 34 tds 20 ints and 4,700 yards passing and 12 rushing td on 1000 yards rushing.

Boyd had over 11,000 yards passing 107 tds and 39 interceptions 1,100 yards rushing and 26 tds

He's regressed since the ankle injury and Herman leaving. I'm sure those 2 years with Tim Beck didn't help.

He completed 50% of his passes and has a career 34/28 TD/into ratio compared to 62% 72/22 ratio

Was a dual QB, who could run like the dickens, then was forced to be a spread QB, in a pass happy offense.

When he was used, like Barret should be used, he could break a simple draw for 50+.

If part of the equation is still team success, then this isn't a good example.
