come on boys. we're not talking about Cousins carrying a team to the Finals or even the playoffs. how about being a superstar and "carrying" a team to more than 33 wins?
cgtiger makes a fair point about potential. i sincerely hope Cousins dominates this year and fulfills his immense potential. but we havent seen it yet.

right. which, coming from you, is so gobsmacking to me. you negate much of the criticism of Cousins's ranking and you also give credence to the questions most observers have about Davis+Cousins.

that list is silly.
Kryie at 21. give me a break.
Klay at 20.
Mike Conley, Lillard, Lowry, Gobert, Heyward, no one would take those guys over Kyrie and Klay. Kyrie is a lot better offensively than all of them, and if it weren't for Curry, Klay would be the best 3 point threat in the league, not to mention he's one of the best defenders in the league.
I'm tired of reading anything from the national people. They all assume we will be terrible, and they want that so their team can get Cousins or AD in a trade. Here's to proving them all wrong.

These are all fair rankings if you look at Boogie as a whole and expect next year to play out like the last few.
Yes, he scores a lot of points. But he was out of shape, so he didn't contribute on every possession ( a guy like Gobert never takes a single possession off). He also got technicals and missed games because of that and because of injuries. Some would also say he makes his teammates worse, not better, because that constant negativity just wears on people.
Now.... if he stays in shape. If he gets technicals at the rate he did in NOLA, not Sacto. If he is positive and lifts his teammates up rather than dragging them down, etc -- then he is without a doubt a top 10-12 player. But history is the greater predictor of the future. I do not blame the national media for following it. But lets all hope the recent history is more indicative of the future.

i actually think Klay is fairly placed. i've thought for a while he is a premium 3 and D guy. i dont think you want Klay as your best guy. of all the stuff from others about Green being a role player, Klay is much more that guy for me. and don't get me wrong, he's awesome. that he's the 4th best player on a team is nuts.

i go two ways here. in a playoff series, Kyrie is probably in my top 10. he turns it on under the bright lights. over the course of the season, i'm much less bullish on him.
and it's not like those other dudes are slouches either. small/irrelevant market guys that dont get the hype of a Nike poster boy playing w/ LeBron can still play

Anyone willing to consider Klay a premium defender should have him top 10-12 minimum. There is no question he is one of the best shooters and scorers in the game. He also is very long and has versatility in guarding multiple positions. I believe he will leave the Warriors the first chance he gets because he unquestionably better than Green and would get the Curry/Durant praise on about any other team in the league. I think he is easily the most likeable personality of the Warriors top 4.

well this has been quite a rollercoaster....
what team has Klay carried? a guy who plays with Durant and Curry and all that talent that's so easy to rack up assists on and hasn't averaged more than 3 apg in a season is a top 10 player minimum? a defender who can't defend the rim and never averaged more than 4 rpg is a top 10 player minimum?
just be honest and say you like points most. that you value that more than anything else. dont pretzel yourself into dumb places.
perhaps. and probably likely with a future half billion $ payroll. though he did say this in June
jesus dude. i just cant anymore. you're out there

You called Klay a premium 3 and D player. So basically you believe he is a premium defender; yet, he is only a great three point shooter. I think he is probably considered one of the better scorers around the league also.
Has there ever been a 3 and D player who averages 22 ppg?
My point was that anyone who considers him a premium defender should have him higher than 20. The guy scored 37 in a quarter. That is insane.

On the playground boogie > green.
On a team, in a game for your life, i pick green every time.
Solid.
Cousins is a crapshoot.
I am a board certified therapist.
They both have issues.
Downside enormous with cousins.
Upside enormous with cousins.
Green "just" very good at the entire game. Greens downside has to do with playing out of position at 5 vs guys who punish him with heft and height.

No you don't.
how many guys in the league can be your best guy and win you a playoff series regardless of who else is on the team?
They all need help outside of Lebron and KD, maybe Kawhi, Harden, Curry.
Posted on 9/15/17 at 10:51 am to TeddyPadillac
yes, they all need help to compete for titles. that's why there are superteams. that's the whole point of the exercise in my mind though....not who is the most talented, but which guys are the best foundational pieces.
if you choose Thompson, you get all time shooting and great perimeter defense. you still need a creator and you still need a rim protector.
to me, i'd rather start with an elite creator or elite rim protector. i think it's easier to find good shooting and competent wing defense as a complement to those skills than the other way around. but that's just me.

well said.
not a knock on Cousins per se, but i'm pretty certain i would pick Green if i could have any big next to Davis.

AD ranked at 6. Thought he'd be 9 or 8

Does Green guard the big centers? Because remember that something that's been causing Demps to make mistake after mistake with this roster build has been AD's reluctance to be a center.

yeah. that's an issue over 82 games. Warriors protect him a good bit from the pounding during the regular season.
in general, it's tough to find skilled guys who actually want to bang. even Cousins has said he prefers PF too.
so that's a problem, yes. i still like the pairing of Davis/Green better than almost any other i can think of.

Interesting you point that out about Cousins, this could explain why the Kings drafted so many centers even though they already had Cousins.

If you take the average of each team's top 3, Pels win. #championship
And by #championship, I mean #8thseed

I don't understand the appeal of the PF position. It is not supposed to be less physical than playing Center. It is supposed to be the team's toughest player and enforcer (neither of which are Cousins or Davis). Perhaps you are given more free reign to move. But if either would dedicate themselves to being a dominant post presence on a consistent basis, this team would be a lock playoff team year after year. They are both trying to be the next Garnett or Duncan. Both of which won rings when they went to Center full time. They are wasting time and talent..
