Minivan - yay or nay?

We just had our third(and final) kid. My wife has some trouble driving the suburban, especially in the parking garage at work. She drove a friends minivan and loved it. I've always held off considering one but damn if they don't have a lot of great features for parents and kids.
Anyone have one I would appreciate recommendations on a brand or special features to look for. We like the Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica after reading consumer reports. TIA guys.

Got an Odyssey EX-L 2 years ago for our 3rd and we love it. It's so practical especially on road trips and in parking lots. Just let the kids get in and out without worrying about banging other vehicles.
I'm not as familiar with the new Odyssey but one of the features I like is a passenger side blind spot camera that activates and displays when turning right. Be sure to get leather seats... that and power sliding doors were the single mandatory requirements.
Weathertech floor liners are a must!
ETA: Just to put this in context, I previously drove a truck for 20 years and due to our current stage in life traded my current truck in for the van and I took the car for the daily commute. I haven't regretted it a single day since. Others on here really use their trucks to tow or haul things, but I didn't. Anything I needed a truck for I can use the van, e.g. lumber including 4x8 sheets of plywood. I'll probably get one of those $400 Harbor Freight folding utility trailers eventually.

We did. Third pushed me to get it. If you do, expect to replace tires, brakes, and struts often.

No. It's like gaining weight and becoming comfortable wearing "dad jeans". There's always a Yukon with third row seating. Still a family car, just something you can drive to go fishing as well.

Nay.
Nothing says khakis, black ecco shoes and golf shirt, chubby dad more than a minivan.

Did your wife want the Suburban? If so, make her drive the damn thing.

Yeah man. Suck it up and get one. We had twins a year ago and decided to get the Toyota Sienna. It's a smooth ride and convenient getting the kids in and out.

Had an Odyssey. It was great. Never any issues and drove great. Definitely served its purpose. Trade-in and resale kinda sucked though, even though it was a Honda, because there just isn't the demand that there used to be for minivans with SUVs being so popular now.

Is there a special compartment for your manhood since it's been cut off?

We bought a Chrysler Town and Country a few years back when we had a third child to haul around. It's very practicle, my wife loves it and it is great for road trips. We live out of state so we frequently make long drives to visit family and/or vacation. If you're over 21 and worried about how people will judge your family's choice of vehicles you've got significant self esteem issues. Im amused by all the fools hauling kids around in huge SUVs making larger payments and spending more on gas just to impress strangers in traffic.

My wife has had a Sienna for 4 years now. It is awesome. Holds up like a Toyota should. Trips in it are great. Can hold 7 adults. It says 8 but that's a stretch. We have 2 kids and also do carpools with neighborhood kids. They ain't the minivans of the 90s we grew up with.

Minivan helped me keep my sanity raising kids.
For everything there is a season. Spring is over, enjoy summer.
Don't be overly concerned about resale values. Think of it as a work truck. Kid gear will leave many scratches, scrapes, dents, and dings. Kids will spill, pee, and puke stains everywhere (even the ceiling). Because you will use kid attractant parking lots the exterior will look like it spent a year in Afghanistan. Enjoy, it goes by fast.

Keep the Suburban for you. Get her a grocery-getter.

Id do it if I had 3 kids.

Car and Driver likes the Chrysler Pacifica.
Frankly I think minivans are the most efficient way to move bigger families. They aren't exciting or cool, but it's hard to beat their functionality.

The sliding doors make getting the kids in and out in a tight parking spot a breeze.

Logic would dictate that a guy with a minivan full of kids is probably not experiencing problems in that department.

Just make sure you get one of those "I used to be cool" decals for the back window so everyone knows that you don't really want to be driving a minivan but feel like you were forced into doing it.
Minivans are awesome. Screw what people think about them.
