Outside of Sumlin and Jones, those are long odds for everyone else. O at +800, they calculate the probability of him retaining his job at about 88%.

Put O at a school listed 5-10 on that list and I don't think the rankings change at all, and vice versa

It's more about LSU than O IMO, It's harder to hold onto a premier job. We just ran off a coach with an NC and 10 wins a year, hard to compare job security at LSU to that of a vandy or Kentucky

Bielema and McElwain should be higher. Other than that, I would say the order is about perfect.

O might be able to do just that if he can maintain two top coordinators simultaneously every year but the possibility of being able to do that is slim to none.

LOL at Malzahn being 3rd likely to get fired. Most analysts have Auburn as the 2nd best team in the SEC.

So the thinking is if he underachieves with the 2nd best team, he'll get fired.

Burt at +1600 is awfully tasty.

They only 2 im a little surprised at are Bielema and Mullen. Miss State could open the season as bad as 1-5 and Arkansas 2-5 which gets people fired in this conference. Not terribly likely but at those odds seems like a solid bet to make.

Are folks in Arkansas all that happy with the progress of Bielema?

If Miles can become the winningest coach in program history, I am not going to put a cap on Orgeron's success before he coaches his first game.

as long as O continues to hire great coordinators and bring in the croots he should do very well at LSU. winning at modern day LSU really shouldn't be rocket science.

How is this news to anyone?

These odds will soon change after a great LSU season. 2 10-2 seasons with a big bowl win so 11-2 would put him right behind Nick Saban. shite can change real fast. Look at it this way, we have no where to go but up so if the perception is this bad and he's still pulling in top 10 recruiting classes imagine what he will be able to assemble with a nice visual for these parents of these recruits!!! Future looks very bright if O can pull off a successful season this year and another good one next, the year after that could be a championship for Ed O. Let's wait to see what happens. Perceptions can change pretty damn quickly with results.

Boy am I ready for some freakn football and I hope to god coach O and this team see all this garbage. I'm sure they are well aware of the national perception and they will be out to prove them all wrong. Can't wait for Saturday.

Stranger things have happened. See Exhibit A, Dabo Swinney.

Yeah the experiment of hiring and d line coach who was jobless 2 years ago can recruit but has zero coaching ability where it matters
Recruiting hasn't been on fire really either.

If he loses to Bama, it doesn't matter what his record is to those step-gumps. Auburn fans might be one notch above Bamers, but it's not much of a notch.

Clemson is doing just that. Has Dabo ever said something that wasn't retarded? He was about to get canned at Clemson and has now turned them into a perennial powerhouse. It's unlikely but not impossible. I swear some folks on this board would rather see LSU lose than be proven wrong about Orgeron.

Coach O has a $12 mil buyout this season. He's not getting fired.

The same thing was going on for most of Miles' tenure, and not just on this board.

Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M) +140 - Another season where the program collapses in the back end of the season, he's gone.

Butch Jones (Tennessee) +140 - Gave up over 40 points in a loss to Vanderbilt. Amazing he's still there.

Gus Malzahn (Auburn) +600 - Agree

Ed Orgeron (LSU) +800 - Will be given more than one year. The only thing I can see is he could be made to fire Matt Canada if the offense is not effective.

Derek Mason (Vanderbilt) +1200 - Beat Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee and went to a bowl game. Vandy probably gave him a big raise and extension. Should be on the other end of the list.

Mark Stoops (Kentucky) +1200 - He beat Louisville and went to a bowl game. Kentucky's Nick Saban, Should be on the other end of the list.

Barry Odom (Missouri) +1200 - Have no idea, expectations probably aren't very high at Mizzou.

Bret Bielema (Arkansas) +1600 - According to Arkansas fans his buyout is too large for Ark to fire him until after the 2018 season unless they can do it for a show-cause violation on his part.

Will Muschamp (South Carolina) +2000 - Not ranked, no expectations. Still recovering from the Visor bailing on them. Still don't know how accurate this pick is.

Dan Mullen (Mississippi State) +2500 - MS State isn't firing this coach whether they are relevant or not.

Jim McElwain (Florida) +4000 - Would put much higher odds unless he has a huge buyout. I don't think UF has bought into this guy.

but at least we had 12 seasons to review. Orgeron hasn't coached a game at LSU as the HC. His Ole Miss record is very troubling but can we at least kick the ball off before we give up on the program.
