Bro, it's getting close to his time. Soon he'll be very happy. Reunited with his ancestors, friends, fellow workmates, maybe even his spouse. I don't know. Glorious reunion.
I pray Our Lord Jesus will grant him a peaceful journey to the other side. Also peace and consolation for all your family.

Sorry to hear Charlie, get ready to have a couple of really bad months for you, your family and other loved ones. The sharp pain gets replaced by a dull one that was (to me) heavier to bear. Push through, that's what we're supposed to do.
Mine died at 63, now I'm old enough to fully realize how he (and we) got robbed of a fun decade-plus of family & retirement & being a source of wisdom and love for and to those around him.
It sucks.
Be as strong as you can for those around you.
Thank the hospice folks, get them gift certificates to local restaurants.
God knows I couldn't do everyday what those angels of mercy do.

I know how you feel. I was running the night crew on a turnaround 150 miles from my dad when he passed. He was 86 and his health wasn't great, but I had no idea he would go so fast. Something told me to spend some quality time with him prior to starting the turnaround, so I spent a day and a night at his house right before starting the job. When I got the call it was already too late. But I can honestly say that's the way my dad would have wanted it. He had a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and he passed that on to me. Sounds like maybe your dad is the same way. I pray you get to see him one more time, but you're the only person who can know what's right for you.
