So my future daughter-in-law took a job teaching kindergarten in a NOLA charter school.

She is from California, and graduated from Alabama. She has a good heart and means well, but has ZERO idea how things work in the hood.
One kid has been having major behavioral problems. Cursing (lots of F words) and flipping off teachers, telling them frick you, etc. Mother gets called in for the purpose of telling her the kid has to go and can't return until he gets some intervention of some sort. Mother storms into the cafeteria screaming at everybody, cussing, getting into peoples faces, making a huge scene. My future DIL was speechless.
I do respect the job some charters are doing trying to work through the lack of family/parental support that some of these kids have. But holy shite. This does not bode well for civilization.

Is she gonna sleep with the students or get shot by them?

Probably more pissed she lost free babysitting than she is about the kid not getting an education

She should quit. Or become a zoo Keeper if she likes it.

Didn't school start like a week ago?

She'll be more racist than a mechanic in Denham Springs in no time.

She slumming in the ghetto charters for a few quick years before a life of morning yoga and afternoon tennis as a stay at home mom I bet.
I bet her friends will think she was so brave.

Yes, school started a week ago. And yes, this is a kindergartener telling his teachers to frick off. And yes, it became clear real fast where he learned this behavior.

Seriously wish I was able to teach grade school or middle school in Nola... was probably my calling.... I do really well with the disenfranchised and can relate to an extent... people think I'm crazy but people that know me well agree

Good to know, her organ recipient will be thrilled.

Hate if for your daughter in law, but that is a part of that vocation...you get to earn a decent living and have a few months off per year in exchange for dealing with the dregs of society on a daily basis.
the unfortunate part of the whole story is, you can see exactly where the child learned his unacceptable behavior...from his mother. little dude unfortunately has no chance to develop into a normal, productive member of society unless someone like his teacher can have an impact on him.
ETA: believe me, there is plenty of this kind of stupidity in California as well...not just found in the south.

She's also from California and graduated from Alabama. Relevant facts to this very intriguing situation.
