I saw your girl helmut was flicking her bean to that on her fb page

The sport is dominated by African-American players and white Americans who have played with black guys for all of their competitive years and with international players. Why anyone should be dismayed or upset by this is beyond me.
The NBA fanbase leans left as well. With one and done in college hoops being the norm the quality of college play is going downhill so if you like hoops the NBA will represent the best quality product by far.
If you want conservative athletes and sports you may be better off with golf.

Lol. The finals were the highest it's been in 20 years. The money the league is making is unbelievable these days, they're insanely flush with cash. The NBA does have a competition problem (superteam era, stars resting in reg season) but their woes have nothing to do w politics.
The NBA knows who their base is (black people, not Deep South white boys) and they're smart to be paying attention to that. You might not like it, but that's what smart businesses do.

If other teams follow suit and we start seeing large numbers of players kneeling at every game, the NFL is really going to be shooting themselves in the foot.
Easily avoidable problem. I don't seem to recall the national anthem being shown on tv for regular season and playoff games with the exception of the Thanksgiving games and Superbowl and maybe conference championship games.
With so many players kneeling it soon becomes normalized and not a big deal. Jehovah Witnesses in baseball and other sports do not come out for the national anthem. I don't see you complaining about that.

I think the issue is that people are tired of politics in every aspect of their lives. Sports are meant to be a temporary escape from this political nonsense. Most people just want to watch a game without being reminded of the hyper politicization of modern society.

You have a point. We could just not play the national anthem before games. There's no legal or constitutional reason to do that. It didn't start in baseball until WWI.

Don't really pay much attention to baseball until October...and the anthem is shown on TV for most playoff games and it sure looks like the entire team is present and standing. Nobody kneeling or sitting in the dugout. If someone stayed in the clubhouse until the anthem was over, I don't mind that because they aren't using the anthem as something to draw attention to themselves as a protest. If NFL players wanted to wait to come out of the locker area until the anthem was over, I wouldn't care. I don't like the use of the anthem as a form of protest because I find it highly disrespectful

When we do that, the terrorists have won.
Besides, they'd just try to pull some other bullshite political stunt once that was done.

If the Browns protest catches on league wide, I wonder what she'll be saying next year when those same players are complaining because they have to take paycuts after NFL salary cap drops due to lower that expected league revenue when a bunch of people stop watching and going to games or buying merchandise.

Honestly, the best way to drive this shite to the bottom is the media, specifically ESPN. CBS, Fox, and NBC don't really have the airtime to fill like ESPN does so they'll be leading the charge to the bottom.

Pretty much this. I'm big into college football and basketball. The rest is filler.

I'm glad this shite won't go on in college basketball, the only league worth a damn.

NBA had a long-standing rule in place requiring players to stand for the anthem. Probably explains why we didn't see anthem protesting at NBA games.
This is correct. They are required by the league to stand for national anthem.
I'm not sure why the NFL doesn't adopt the college policy and just play the anthem while the players are still in the locker room. I also wish each player who knelt would have to publicly explain and take questions on his exact grievance and overall general philosophy. It would take a only a few moments for everyone to realize how ignorant and unintelligent every single one of them is. But whatever stay woke bros

I quit watching the NBA 25 years ago.

I'll watch them play the sport and I'll ignore their commentary on social issues.
I generally agree with this approach. If a liberal/progressive/sjw actor or director makes a movie, I decide to see it on the basis of how good the movie will be.
However this is slightly different. These aren't athletes who have liberal leanings and share them outside the game. They literally perform their little act right before the game.
That's like if joss whedon put a SJW screed at the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

And the NBA, as the NFL experienced last year, will see their viewing numbers and $$$ drop like a rock. ESPN will also continue to lose viewers as long as they talk politics.

Not really...there's not enough money in the black community for it to be the base.
The NBA has been great to watch the last few years, overall talent is off the charts and super-teams or periodically dominant teams have been around forever.
