Because the church is bigger than one pope.
The church has had many questionable leaders, popes, etc

Seems to me that the Pope is demomonstarting exactly what being a true Chrisitan is all about... Should he bend to suit you??

So we should outlaw abortion and gay marriage to, right?

For the religious folk, how can you deny Jesus would have been the ultimate liberal? He would have taken in anyone, anytime, any place correct? There would be no "lets use common sense here people?"

I'm not sure "ultimate liberal" is the right description, but to say he would have turned away refugees is laughable. The pope is doing the same thing. He wants to help people in terrible situations. That's not promoting Marxism or Communism. That's being a fricking Catholic. Of course the pope is going to say countries should be willing to take in refugees.

I wonder how many people in this thread have this image when they think of Jesus. My guess is not a lot.

I'm sorry, but I go to the catholic church to worship God, and receive the sacraments. Pope's are not infalible in matters that are not related to cannon and faith. So there, I don't have to agree with Francis's political views.

And btw, this country was founded by inmigrants, and immigration is important for our future as a country, since Americans are not being very willing to have babies.

You must revoke any ties you have to your local Catholic Church / Diocese and explicitly cite Francis as the reason why, IMO.

so you're leaving the catholic faith then?

I don't support gay men diddling boys - I was never a catholic. I'm asking for the remaking Catholics who do turn a blind eye to such things to leave now that the Pope is actively trying to destroy Christendom.
