Do any of you see this getting better? Any hope that people are okay with differing opinions without being called a communist or nazi sympathizer at this point? IMO, we are heading down a very dark path. Social media is only exacerbating this.

World War III

Americans are at their best when things are the most difficult. We're riding the gravy train right now, nothing will get better.

There is none. The left has no interest in having any sort of conversation.

They are unhinged and completely emotional at this point.

You can't reason with unreasonable people.

I don't think moderates quite understand how dangerous and violent these people are (and are becoming).

The left has had to hide their contempt for America and traditional American values for a long time. Their masks are coming off.

No liberal I know behaves like toddy in real life. It's all just bluster due to anonymity. The real world is mostly fine. I didn't run into any hysterical toddys today or yesterday.

Honestly?

With luck, one of these masked marauding ANTIFA groups will run in to the wrong situation and be massacred and maybe the rest of them will think better of violently attacking people who aren't attacking you.

No. You can't reason with Communists, and the Left has decided to mainstream them. The evil on the Left will eventually have to be met with brute force, because Communists don't understand anything but.

It is never going to get better. It's only downhill from here.

The alt-left won't be satisfied until the USA doesn't exist. It's not about calling someone racist bc they disagree with them. They want america transformed. They have a feeling of momentum bc of hussein obama's 8 years.

Ignore the media and this will all go away. Granted, ignoring them will just cause them to try that much harder but whatever

Antifa and Nazis only represent a tiny tiny portion of the left and right, respectfully. Yet the media portrays both sides, especially the right, being made up of nothing but extremists. There's no middle ground in their eyes anymore

If people would ignore this crap and going about their daily lives living and working together, left and right, we'd all be much better off.

This is the trendy topic at the moment. Each summer it happens, last year was Baltimore, before that Ferguson, etc. it'll eventually go away. Just ignore it

Honestly this is the actual problem.

Social media has given everyone an opinion the opportunity to express it in public.

So everyone now thinks they are a special snowflake...when in reality none of us.

The middle has to destroy the fringes, that's all there is to it. Best way is to make them fight it out then clean up the mess

The minute violent mobs were showing up to "protest" and assault Trump supporters at rallies this was practically an inevitability. The street incidents becoming normalized can only naturally escalate and that's exactly what we're seeing. I said it then and it's plainly evident now, political violence in the streets is fundamentally dangerous to a democracy. And the really scary thing is that the media and the left are very hesitant to condemn it on the left as abhorrent while, now the opportunity has presented itself, are framing it as a product of violent Nazis and Klansmen and they cry "false equivalency" when the TRUTH is exposed that Antifa and left wing radicals are every bit as responsible and complicit in this street violence.

Trump's words were completely accurate and I applaud him for not falling into the media trap of allowing Antifa and radical leftists to escape their culpability in this state of affairs.

It will reach a tipping point then come back down.

It always does.

This time last year this board was convinced a race war was coming.

People calming down would be the first thing. I've gone outside today and the world isn't any different. People are being polarized solely due to the media, on both sides, which drive home biases that are confirmed over and over again. Any alt group that exists is very small in number, with respect to the 340 mil people in this country.

What we are going through right now is nothing. In July of 1967, there were 17 racial riots in different cities. Since 2000, there have been 10 total. People are freaking out because the real effects of the 2008 crash are starting to surface, like the alienation of young people and the abandonment of various traditions.

We have to realize what we have, and realize that it's alright to disagree, and that disagreement isn't something that defines people. It's just disagreement.

That said, we have a lot further to go before we reach bottom, and whether that will mean war, or something else is an entirely different issue.
