I've become nervous over the last few weeks about Aranda's days being number at LSU. What scares the most is aTm or any other SEC school hiring him. This is Sumlins last year unless they make the SEC champ. aTm has pumped in more money than any program in America in the last 5 years and they are ready for championships.

Aranda's doesn't strike me as a guy that likes the media attention, he is very soft spoke in the interviews I've watch. He seems to just answer the questions and is ready to get back to whatever he was doing before.

I think he is the most important individual person involved in LSU Football. I would like to see LSU make him priority number 1.

I'd like to hear other opinions.

Whoa...whoa...you mean more important than Myles Brennan?

Just kidding.

Come on...buck up.

I don't think he wants to be a head coach at the college level. His next stop is likely as an NFL DC.

No time to melt about the unknown future than right now, I guess.

My opinion would be to live in the present and try to enjoy the football program and not go all "doom-N-gloom" about shite you have no control over or even know if it wil happen.

Not being a dick, but what's your point with this paragraph:

I mean, Saban isn't necessarily fond of it, nor was Stoops, or even Jimbo for that matter...and they all seem to be doing/have done pretty well.

He's way too introverted and weird to be a college head coach.

And the answer to your question is this. LSU believes this too. They have proved it with money and with his title of asst. coach.

The university, city and state love Aranda. He pretty much has a blank check here. His only move would likely be to the NFL. The reality is though, he won't be a rock star in the NFL the way he is to the Tiger Nation. Not saying he won't be successful, but he's reached almost legendary status here after only one season.

(IIRC) he's the highest paid assistant coach in the country. I don't see how LSU could make him any more of a priority.

That aside, if he want's to be a head coach, there is nothing LSU can do (if money isn't the issue) to keep him outside of firing Ogeron and making Aranda the HC.

I don't necessarily worry about A&M. When coaching changes happen schools usually try to go in the opposite direction of what got them in the position of needing a new coach in the first place. A&M currently has a DC they took from LSU. That hasn't exactly worked out for them. I'm not sure they would want to go that route again.

This is exactly why you don't want to have good quality coordinator's. That fear of them getting hired by someone else.

I'm nervous about Aranda's weight. He needs to get to about 197.

Why would any coach want to take a step back and go to aTm. They will never overtake LSU

Oh my Gawd, I won’t be able to sleep tonight!

Relax, Aranda isn’t going anywhere. He’s and his family loves Baton Rouge, he loves working for Coach O, he loves this coaching staff, he loves the players, and he loves coach Ensminger and says when he grows up he wants to be just like him.

Not to mention, that he is the highest paid defensive coordinator in the country by far, as he is paid more money than most of the head coaches in the country are paid. In fact, NFL defensive coordinators don’t make as much money as LSU pays Aranda. He'd be stupid to leave.

Aranda will not leave LSU for another college job. Maybe his curiosity to see if his defense could work in the NFL might intrigue him, but I still don't see it. To much money and egos in the NFL. Especially if he has a better defense or just as good as last year. He'll have a open check book and a lot to say in the program
