Yes just look at property values, school ratings and new businesses in severe decline due to the cat being out of the bag

The cluster created by the new red light on Hwy 22 in Madisonville is just rubbing salt in the wound.
As opposed to the 4 way stop?
I live in Madisonville and don't have one single issue with the new light.
Maybe others do, but I've not found it to be a problem yet.

quote:Agree. It's a shame, because that location is so charming. A really special (smaller, more exclusive) restaurant could be very successful there one day. Also, I was surprised they allowed that huge multi-story boat garage to be built right near there, and I was pretty surprised they allowed those 5 giant mansions to be built. They kind of stick out like a sore thumb.
That this monstrosity was ever approved in the first place is still unreal.
Madisonville is so tiny and quaint, and small things aesthetically work better there.

Had they left the left lane as the lane to proceed west, as it was with the 4 way stop, then it would have likely worked.
but no, they use the left lane for left turn only now, for all 18 cars a day that turn left there. And instead of the traffic in the right hand lane being able to bleed off during a red light by turning right, now it comes to a complete stop with no relief when the first car in line at the red light can't go anywhere because he wants to go west across the intersection.
Do you not see the line of cars backed up across the bridge now, virtually every day, since the red light went up? I certainly do.

Friends was the only thing on the NS for years outside of CCC. Friends was always awful and that monstrosity should have been shot down.

I think they need to make it like a Del Porto or Nuvolari's; something not outrageously expensive but still has a nicer upscale vibe with reservations encouraged (to alleviate parking problems). It could be something really special with a romantic view.
ETA: All of this would include knocking down that giant restaurant and creating something smaller and more intimate.

They need the parking to go with it and apparently the dipshit who went bankrupt had the parking lot on a separate property not considered part of the restaurant.

The Madisonville light has absolutely improved traffic. No complaints during peak traffic times.
Madisonville could improve on their school traffic in the mornings.
Friends should mysteriously burn down.
New Orleans needs a Noah's Flood type of purge followed by Hillary's Reset Button.

Why would that make him a dipshit? The lenders, sure, but seems like a good move on the owner's part.

These Louisiana small town politicians are Grow At Any Costs. They do not think about anything except sales taxes and property taxes. Who cares if it becomes an eyesore or if it causes flooding. They will let someone else worry about that.

yup. I'm convinced Pat Brister will rubber stamp any subdivision fated to frick over traffic and drainage immediately.
That isn't just the Northshore. That is every area around New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Sounds like Baton Rouge where it's "let's throw another housing development here . . . rezone for commercial right next to it . . . another development in this drainage area here . . ."
Ascension Parish is the same way. Build build build. Damn the infrastructure. The disconnect between these motherfrickers is infuriating to the taxpayers and residents.

I live by the bridge. The line of cars backed up has been that way for years, way before the light. I think the light has helped actually, though not by much.

The light isn't a problem when traveling on 22. My issue is coming through town on 21/1077 and trying to turn left (east) on 22. If you're heading west on 22, you can shortcut on Morgan before you hit the intersection. Left, or straight to the boat launch, is a pain in the arse.
Saturday at ~4:45 or 4:50, traffic southbound on 21/1077 was backed up to the hardware store. By the time I got past St Anselm the fricking bridge opened. It took me about 30 minutes to go about 2-1/2 or 3 miles from the Post Office to the entrance to Beau Chene.

I'm not going to go all Chicken Little, but the pace of development is getting to point that even I, as someone who generally likes common sense development, am getting sick of seeing another swath of trees being knocked down for another whatever.
The Politicos here are solely motivated by money and favors from developers and big business interests. It seems pretty overboard.
