Fox has a really weird hatred for podcasts

"tv and radio is dying...but i'm desperate to get on tv and radio to sell my podcast that's replacing tv and radio...and my books"
that's absurd

yeah as if people on traditional media never go on podcasts to promote the stuff they're selling...

So now you're against people advertising their work? Do you have a bad case of blue balls or something today?

katy perry just canceled her appearance on network tv to do the joe rogan show...said no one ever.

no Fox just has this irrational conservatism when it comes to media for some reason
i have theories

definition of a straw man
and your straw man is even projecting the wrong scale

remember when Kaare Johnson got in hot water a few years ago? Fox was intimately involved
LINK
he either got that job and believes in his old media or just has that attachment to it. if he's really on the spectrum, that sort of association is common

This video was featured yesterday on the kaare johnson program because it's footage of kaare in an unplanned crowd confrontation. The story of the protests has now been on drudge report, cnn and wwl, but it started on TIGERDROPPINGS

I shot the video, and yes, I become an arse kissing dweeb once i realize it's kaare (I've been trying to get a job at his station)

Yeah, I have to say Fox's disdain for podcasts and YouTube kind of bewilders me, since I tend to mostly agree with him.

actually the straw man (or rather false equivalence) is you pointing out tv personalities go on podcasts to sell their stuff as if that's the point. You have a book to sell, you go everywhere to sell it...same with movies, tv, anything...which platform is the most effective at doing it? TV. the difference is youtube/podcast/twitter personalities acting as if traditional media is dead or soon to be when it's the source of much of that content for a lot of people...AND...the best way to tell people about your podcast and get more listeners/subscribers
sam harris, what made his career? what took him from virtual unknown to quasi prominent intellectual celebrity? his appearance on bill maher when batman freaked out on him.
"tv is dying man, podcasts are the future. i'm also desperate to go on tv to promote my podcast and use both to sell my books"
disinterested celebrities go on podcasts (because it's useful in that the audience is usually quite specific) has nothing to do with what i'm saying.

but they do
your straw man is acting like it's a zero-sum game and they'd have to forgo traditional media, which is not true
for just an easy example, look at Leah Remini when she was promoting her work on Scientology. she hit up tv, radio, and JRE
it's not exclusive

traditional media can still be dying and the most popular form of media

i don't know if this is true. i'll have to see some data

It's hard for me to grasp what it must be like to have such politically-driven tunnel vision. How do you even walk out of your house?

I always assumed he works for traditional media.

hulu, sling tv, netlix, for the purposes of that chart, are those considered "traditional tv viewing trends"?
because they're a distributor of the exact same content. so distribution methods have changed, cost for consumers, etc. but that's cosmetic. tv is bigger than ever, and it's the same 4 companies creating the most ravenously consumed content.
talk radio, different discussion.

it's not disdain. i like them, i just think that people have a very naïve viewpoint when it comes to their place in the larger landscape.
