You give the impression of someone that has never listened to Sam Harris.

Harris studied meditation in Tibet and shite. He is wholly concerned with philosophical and ontological questions, which makes him not only more boring but particularly burdensome to matters of actual policy. He has the intellectual chops, but he focuses them on the most inane shite IMO.

it would take me 40 pages to convey this

You have to care about the topic he is discussing. Hitchens was very entertaining, but I don't think I could listen to him talk about something I didn't care about for very long.

I don't see the argument. Personally I find a Steven Crowder to be more extreme than Lauren Southern, not that I'm saying either should be kicked off of Patreon.

Their excuse was that she was raising money that would "put lives in danger" having to do with the Defend Europe campaign, even though she was only covering it as a journalist and not actually participating in it (according to her at least).

That's just flat out wrong. I think your Asperger's is acting up again.

no, you have some holier than thou "maybe that's what's wrong with this country people prefer bombast over intellectualism" based reasoning.

Holier than thou, yet you were the one who responded to me saying he wasn't "interesting" because he was boring. But replying to that critically is acting "holier than thou?" Ok.

as if sam harris isn't a guy who gets paid to entertain people.

I'm really not following how you think this is a pertinent idea to direct at my comments.

I didn't say he needs to take on an "entertainment demeanor" I said he isn't interesting and certainly not "an interesting character"

Are we going to keep going in circles here or what? You don't find him to be an interesting character, for the reasons you've laid out. I get it. And I disagree. For the reasons I've laid out. I also happen to agree with you that he's not a very entertaining guy and that has little impact on my judgment of him as interesting. Interesting people can be entertaining or otherwise as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know about others, but I don't read books or listen to podcasts on sociopolitical subjects and history with the same purpose as watching Fresh Prince.

on the contrary I very much enjoy them for specific areas of interest.

I have different ideas about their standing in the media landscape and it makes me laugh out loud to hear their delusions of grandeur when they promote their podcasts and sell their books by going on television and radio.

Can we get off the Sam sucks / Sam is awesome slap fight and back on topic?

A prominent liberal is responding to the attempts by regressives to stamp out dissent on self proclaimed free speech platforms.

Will we see more blow back? (I hope so)

He looks like a religion critic. Does that make him a liberal?

And why have I never heard of this guy outside of this board if he is so prominent?

Maybe because you don't pay much attention to the news or political commentators. How the frick should I know since the average poster here is familiar with him?

I consider you not as smart as you think you are, Sam Harris. Yes he would destroy me in a debate because his mental gymnastics are better than mine

i guess b/c you live in a bubble?

Sam Harris is pretty well known across the educated population of the internet, if only for the Ben Afleck meltdown on Bill Maher
