On another note, Astros have signed a dude from Ville Platte named Jablonski Rico Noel.

Are those three names in the correct order?

That's what his Wikipedia page indicates. Unsurprisingly he goes by Rico.

Having a Jabroni and a Jablonski on the same team makes us unstoppable imo

Nearly every player in baseball will be placed on waivers. It's part of the game.

Tampa's starter tonight Pruitt is a guy from this area that some of my buddies played against. I only say that because I specifically remember him coming into the game out of the bullpen in our series in Tampa and he had like a 9.00 era or some shite. He then proceeded to shut us down for multiple innings

Yes. That process clears the way for him to be traded.

That link offers a rundown on the waiver process. I don't see a deal happening. I'd imagine if we wanted Verlander, it would have been a lot easier to get a deal done at the non waiver deadline.

Samardzija has no trade protection and indicated before the deadline that he wouldn't approve a deal.

Key details:

A player is on waivers for 47 hours. After which if a team hasn't claimed him, hes cleared waivers and his team can discuss trades with anyone. The 2 day rule also applies to working out a trade. If a deal isn't done in 2 days, the waiver claim is revoked and the player stays with his club.

A player can only be placed on revocable waivers once. If he's placed on waivers a 2nd time, it's non revocable and any team that claims him is awarded the player and they must agree to a trade or assume his contract.

Is there a rule that a player must be unclaimed on waivers before teams can discuss a possible trade? Or could we agree to a trade and then the Tigers put him on waivers and if he gets through the trade happens quick.

I guess with Verlander that ship has sailed

yes. it starts the process of a potential trade, however, given how you are guys are pretty far down on the priority list, i can see someone just claiming him to block a potential trade to the astros

but maybe that doesnt happen and he falls to you guys where you will probably claim him and see if you can make a trade work

i think technically, by the actual wording of the rule, you would need to wait until you claim him before you begin trade negotiations. but in actuality teams probably have an open discussion throughout the whole year about deals and, especially at the deadline, they will talk about waiver moves

I am pretty sure Braun went unclaimed last year but the Brewers didn't work a deal with anyone.

With the high salary guys you never know. The only two teams that have the resources to claim him and risk getting stuck with his money and would be motivated to do so are Boston and New York. New York seems most likely to do it since he could actually have an impact for them if they were to work out their own deal
