Odds that the new mayor will say anything about this today

More importantly, has Gravy and the SJW brigades weighed in on this senseless violence?

But we have a white poleese problem, not a black crime problem.

Good thing SWB wanted to defund all the GIS programs that make BRPD more effective!

Agreed. Lots of great things happening downtown and mid city areas

I think downtown will start to decline soon.

To be fair, allowing the murders to continue really is saving tax dollars in the long run. As long as the innocent law abiding working individual isn't affected who really gives a shite?

i guess it is cheaper to bury them than to house and feed them...almost sounds like they are prisoners to the government

I think close to that. i also think the census will show less white people in BR when they do the numbers again...there certainly won't be an increase

I think the new police chief will simply be the lapdog of the mayor. The policies that she'll inevitably force the PC to enact will almost certainly lead to an increase in crime in downtown. Loitering will likely increase dramatically and the typical bullshite that inevitably follows will drive patrons away from these downtown establishments. I predict Third St will see a noticeable impact by this time next year.

ts nice to see Baton Rouge adapting to having a democratic mayor so quickly. I honestly thought it would take at least 2 years. #forward #brproud

Party politics doesn't really play that big of a factor in local elections. Well to some degree it does, because their are people who vote party lines no matter what, but I would argue Kip Holden was BR's best mayor in some time.. He was a democrat.

So if SWB decided to go change her party today. And all of a sudden becomes a Republican, she automatically becomes a better mayor?

I think this has more to do with the fact that we're simply at the apex of the summer killing season. Crime always spikes this time of year.

Not sure what this means. SWB is the first SJW mayor this parish has had. The only thing that kept her from losing the last election was around 3,000 votes.

A lot more people go vote for presidential elections so there were not nearly as many people at the polls for the runoff and that went into her favor because, more than likely, she had her "team" going around making sure they get their people out. I am sure Gary was good for x amount of votes, Silky Slim was good for x amount, etc.. And they all made sure the votes they were able to buy... I mean get.. went back to the polls.
