Saw this from @valleyshook on Twitter. Pretty awesome!

quote:

South Dorms completely gone now. SEZ lower concourse now wide open, new bathrooms (last home game/today)

AFTER:

Thanks to TigersOfGeauxld on Page 2.
Some more pics, including bathroom renovation pics. I believe there are a couple before and after pics, unless they are keeping some bathrooms shitty.

Mike's Tiger Cage construction included! (And the old tennis "stadium" construction. Not sure what they are doing there. Last I heard it was going to be the spot for the Sand Volleyball teams. That was a few years ago.)

other than removing what I'll assume were antiquated dorms, what was the point of clearing out that space?

Edit: I asked this question before the updated pics, thanks for the downvotes fellas!

I may have blazed in those a few times back in the day. About 10 years ago.

Sad to see the history from tiger stadium be removed. The fact our stadium was a dorm made it uniquely different from everyone else.

I've always thought LSU could make a fortune leasing those out as crash pads for alumni. It could be awesome.

I knew it was inevitable, but still sad as my dad lived in those when he went to LSU. He passed away in 2000. I used to always look up at his room window when we went to games.

Looks great! I have high hopes for that space...beer garden, restaurant, gathering space...everything's possible now.

I hope they plan on covering up the underside of the ramp. The exposed pipes underneath looks really bad.

Baby steps, I guess.

The street level concourse in the south endzone wasn't really a problem on Gameday. It's the upper level concourse in the south endzone that's way too small and a complete clusterfrick.

Lived in Room 241 64-66. Worse than heat was the rotting cane juice odor from the nearby Sugar Mill. South Stadium eas considered the most comfortable of Stadium dorms. Rooms were comparable to Old Graham---which is also gone. There were NO air conditioned mens' dorms then.
